        Hi guys,

Tambor has beginning to do this sound when he runs. It’s not always, only when he’s excited about something (food or pets) and runs/jumps faster. Is this what honking/oinking sounds like? Or could it be something else?

In this YouTube video, the bunny does exactly the same sound as Tambor. You can hear it at 01:40 – 01:45.

        Thank you!!

Note: You need to turn the volume up a lot to hear the noise.

I haven’t really heard this noise before, but I know people in the past have posted about this. It sounds more like buzzing to me, but again, unsure.

Behavior wise, is his nose fur clear, is he pooping and eating normally, and is he hunched up more often or lounged out more often?

It’s not really honking/oinking. I’d say buzzing, like Wick suggests. Some buns do make funny noises when they are delighted. Noises buns make need to be interpreted in context.

Hi Wick, He’s behaving completely normal and his nose fur is clear. He had a lung infection when we adopted him (about a year ago), with loads of mucus, sneezing and eye tears, but it was healed by the vet and he hasn’t been sneezing at all for the past 4 months.  The “oinking” seems to be linked to him being exited about things and running. It happens more in the norming.

Has anybody else experienced it or can link to a post where it’s mentioned?

              Thanks!

In that case Yilina, I think, with the assumption that health is still stable and well, this is the noise your rabbit makes when excited and happy! You can use the “Search” tool on the forums and look up “buzzing”. You’ll find many topics about it! Just remember not to reply to old topics.

I read a few posts and, as Wick says, it seems to be a sound some bunnies make when they are excited . Yeahhhhh!

Anyway, due to his lung infection history, I’ll mention it to the vet when he goes for his next check-up.

                  Thank you, guys! <3

Does Tambor ever run around your feet while he’s honking/oinking/buzzing? It happens less often with rabbits that have been altered than un-altered buns, but it does sometimes happen, and in that context, so I’ve read, it’s definitely a sign of happiness or affection.

Peanut has honked a few times at Buttercup when he’s particularly excited

oh yeah Sprocket does this one too! when excited for sure. I am learning new sounds from each day as he is a chatter box and I never knew they could make so many sounds. I recorded Sprocket’s sounds it’s more of a squeak as well it’s here on his instagram . https://www.instagram.com/sprocketbb9/

but the sound you showed us he does it as well and he does it when I first get home or when he comes into the room in the morning when my alarm goes off and when I take too long with measuring out his pellets… and he does it with circling my feet.

Hi! He’s never circled our feet since we got him, but I’m more and more convinced that he’s doing this when he’s happy. Especially when he’s not been interacting with us for a while and then sees we’re offering to pet him (or feed him).

He has always been a very quiet bunny (the only sound he ever made before was tooth clicking -he does that a lot). I’m happy to see he seems more and more comfortable with us! <3

I saw your last Instagram video, Sprocket is SO fast!! :-0. Tambor seems to do that more as well in the morning or when he hasn’t seen us for a long while. It’s like a “hey, I missed you, human! Got something for me?” ;-P

Lol yeah he is very fast and a little ninja under your feet in seconds.

These little honking sounds are definetly happy bun sounds. At least with sprocket
