We have a 5 month old cute bunny (we are so inlove with him). Anyhow the other day, we saw him laying down on his side at the sofa with his eyes closed, after running around our place. Since we are new to rabbits, we were worried that he might not feeling well, but after a few mins he went back to his usual position sitting flat, is he ok?. Also sometimes pushes my hand and things away with his nose? When i tried to pet him, he will close his eyes and seems to like it?

A rabbit lying down on his side, sometimes with a dramatic jump, is called “flopping” and is a sign of great happiness and contentment. He’s enjoying a nice snooze, so don’t disturb him! Bunnies often push at their people’s hands when they want them to pet or do something else, and closing his eyes definitely signifies that he enjoys you petting him.

My little trouble maker, Jackson, when he’s done running around and moving my stuff around likes to “flop” onto the floor and just lays there for a while (until something new catches his eye) so I believe it’s common for them to do that. He also often nudges at my mini fridge, because he knows that’s where his carrots and greens are.

Also, I’ve noticed that they do look lethargic when laying down like that, but 90% they’re just enjoying a nice snooze or resting before they begin to play again!

Agree that he is having a snooze. They spend a lot of the day snoozing and eating

A flopped bunny is a happy bunny!
