        Hey everyone!

I have a bunny named Putin. I got Putin 3 months ago, and around 10-12 days ago this happened…

I’m seriously not sure how to explain this without making it sound like animal abuse, which it isn’t!
In the last 3 months when I went to sleep, Putin used to jump on my bed and jump off.
10-12 days ago he jumped on my face while I was sleeping and with shock, I accidentally scratched or bit him with my teeth.

I woke up instantly, turn on the lights, went to the bathroom, tried seeing if he was bleeding and luckily no serious damage happened!

He has had this scab on his back for the last two weeks almost, and it has almost dried out and the biggest pits have fallen off.

I never intended that to happen, if I wanted to ignore this issue I wouldn’t be on this forum. I’ve been searching for answers on how long it takes for fur to grow back, some people say 4 weeks, other people say 9 months. how long will it take before it grows after the scab?

Accidents happen, so don’t beat yourself up over it; if Panda or Fernando were to jump on MY face while I was sleeping, I’d be pretty astounded too. Have you taken Putin to a vet to have that scab looked at? It wouldn’t be good to have that turn into an abscess.

With the fur loss and some skin flakes, It looks as if something else may be going on. Perhaps some fur mite?  The fur won’t grow back if there is a parasite causing the loss. or if bacterial or fungal skin infection.

Honestly, I’m a bit baffled about the circumstances… Could it be you just discovered it after waking suddenly like that, but he had already had it from unknown cause?

I took Putin to the vet and they said it’s totally fine and nothing serious has happened. Bought some spray for that spot.

After cleaning his back with a small touch of water, the scab isn’t no longer there and his skin is smooth and clean.

Eeey thank you for the reply. The thing is, when explaining what happened, I didn’t want to sound it like animal abuse.

              Appreciate the reply!

Good news! Putin’s fur should start to grow back in soon now that the scab’s gone and the skin’s healed..

                  Your bunnies look really cute!

The thing <g class="gr_ gr_91 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-del replaceWithoutSep" id="91" data-gr-id="91">is,</g> since that accident happened 2 weeks ago, he hasn't come near me and just been running away from me, so I gotta gain his trust somehow. Guess it's just time.</p>

Oh, I didn’t realize I couldn’t post links, but thanks for letting me know.

I clearly know that I scratched or accidentally bit him when that happened. He loudly screamed the exact same way as if you look at those videos on YouTube where they remove bunny’s hair by tearing it off.

                    I appreciate your reply!

Ugh.  Yeah, that’d make the poor fellow scared of you. The only thing for it is to put the time into regaining his trust, hopefully that won’t take a real long time.  I’m having to put some work and time into earning my own buns’ trust, too, though I hope no such accident ever occurs to me (knock wood); Fernando, the white one, is very very friendly and it’s taken only a few days to get him to where he’s accepting pets and caresses, but Panda, the black-and-white, is a lot more reserved – it was a big deal last evening when she got comfortable enough to let me pet her on the forehead for a minute before scampering off again. Still and all, this is only Week 1!
