There’s not a lot you can do, you can rinse the eye to get some of the sticky goo that keeps it “glued” shut out. Eyewash for humans (0.09 saline) will work. You should call your vet as soon as they open tomorrow though, because this should not wait until Tuesday. Explain the situation to them, if they can’t see her, they should be able to direct you elsewhere.

Sorry to hear that. As for her vision, really impossible for us to say. Did you ask the vet his/her prognosis?

No way to tell how Winnie’s vision will be affected this early in the treatment regimen, but I’m hoping for the best for her. It’s possible she will recover vision through that eye; but even if not, buns can cope very well with just one eye or limited vision of some sort (or even total blindness). They just need their hoomins to make some accomodations and then time to learn how to navigate their world while sensing more acutely with their other senses. ((((((Winnie))))))

Have you talked to the pet sitter? If I came back from my vacation and my bunny had her eye wrecked, there would be hell to pay. I think you should make them tell you what the heck happened. Don’t let them get away with “We don’t know”. Why didn’t they tell you about this when you picked her up? To avoid being blamed I assume? Have your vet write up a statement detailing when you first brought her in, what the condition of the eye was at the time and how long they estimate this must have been going on for before you got her back, so the sitter can’t claim it happened after you picked her up. A written statement from your vet will make it much harder for them to wriggle out of this. If this is something they caused (and they at least partially did by not letting you know right away and thus denying her immediate vet care), they should be paying for your vet bills (if she has to have surgery, it will be expensive).
