  My male rabbit, Loki has been behaving strangely lately… instead of sitting at his usual spots for us to come over, he instinctively runs away when we come over. A little after, I also started noticing that instead of his neck fur being soft it felt weird, slightly balding and skin is red. And also around his eyes are slightly red… would that be Conjunctivitis?
  
  I know that rabbits shed their fur every 3 months of so, but after having him for over 4 years (also neutered) seeing that was new to me.
  
  I think I may also be overreacting, but would anyone know what is going on with Loki? I am also planning to take him to the vet tomorrow since my whole family is concerned…

  I think your best bet is taking him to the vet like you said! My rabbits eyes have never been red so I am not sure what that could be. Better to be safe than sorry. Hope everything is turns out okay!

  Pictures would help. But it sounds like he might have mange (a mites infestation that your vet can easily treat with spot / drop medicine). Is he still eating and drinking and pooping normally? Let us know how his appointment goes tomorrow and I hope he’s ok. (((Loki)))

  It sounds more like a skin parasite or fungus (ringworm) than conjunctivitis, because of the neck involvement. The skin should never be red with normal shedding.
  
  The two things could be unrelated, of course. I’m glad you’ve a vet appointment so you can get this investigated and treated. Is he eating and drinking and pooping like he should?

  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to bring Loki to the vet today since everything for today was booked, and really hard to find a vet that sees rabbits as well. Will try again tomorrow to see if there’s any openings.
  
  Hopzandbig – fortunately, the rim around his eyes aren’t red anymore but still worried… and thank you!
  
  Q8bunny – not sure if these pictures are helpful since it was a bit difficult to have the actual color show (pink instead of white) … he was eating, drinking and pooping normally up until this morning. I have been checking his litterbox and he hasn’t pooped at all, or ate… I tried giving him hay (if he didn’t want hay at the moment, he would nudge my hand away) but he didn’t make any motion of nudging my hand away or ate it. And definitely! I think goggling things up makes it even worse, so I really hope theres an opening tomorrow so that I can bring Loki in.
  
  bam – He was eating, drinking and pooping normally up until this morning. I have been checking his litterbox and he hasn’t pooped at all, or ate. Right now for his neck it looks more pinkish than it was yesterday, as it was slightly more red.

  You need to feed him something, Critical Care or pellet mush. If he won’t eat on his own you must syringe feed him. Sometimes they will lick CC from a finger or a spoon if it’s mixed with sth yummy, like plain canned pumpkin or baby fruit/berry pure.
  
  Getting food in him is the most important thing just now.

  I agree with Bam. Priority one: get food in him. Priority two: vet. Poor sweetums… it’s hard to say what’s ailing him. Even if it is just a skin condition, parasitical or otherwise, if he’s not eating, he needs relief from it asap.
