My boys got neutered almost a month ago, and I know it could take another month for the hormones to die down, but they both spray the exact same spot. It’s so hard to keep up with because we don’t even realize it until the area is practically caked with white several hours later. Any ideas why they’re spraying the exact same spot? I know spraying is typically territorial, but are they really deciding who gets that specific spot? It’s just seems strange to me. They start bonding in another week, and I’m pretty sure they can tell because they never leave each other’s sides (one in cage and one out of cage). I’m really weirded out by it.

To me I immediately thought they are spraying and re-spraying the same spot in a ‘that’s MY spot’ kind of manner.

Dogs do that too. One dog pees, the next dog hurries to get there and pee on the exact same spot.

My buns Bam and Yohio peed on corresponding spots on their respective sides of the gate that separated them.

hahaha honestly it’s ridiculous. The minute they’re out, they go right to that one spot, do their business, then leave. Then when the other one is out, they do all that. Then basically repeat the entire 5 hours they take turns being out of the cages.

Maybe throw an extra litter tray in the hot-spot

Bun Noob: Asriel detests the litter box! I’ve given up attempting to litter train him. Bombur is such a good boy with it, but Asriel always digs out the litter and then lays in the box. I’ve got his hay and food dish right next to it hoping that he’ll eat and poop/pee there, but he’s smart and he’ll get out of the box to eat and pee and poop right there instead. So frustrating! Mopping up the pee and putting the paper towel in the box for him to sniff at leads to him digging that out too. Brat.

Oh no, we have a rebel on our hands!! “Why should I go in this box, while YOU go on the fancy porcelain throne? I think NOT!”
