so my bun is 10 weeks old now, ive had him for 3 weeks, he is super good. Like perfect in everyway, and I absolutely adore him.He is 100% litter trained, and he doesn’t chew my furniture and bonding is going well, etc.

The only thing that is worrying me at this point is that he rattles and chews the door to his crate at night. He gets free range of an entire room for the entire day. The ONLY time I have him caged up is at night. That is it. He gets PLENTY of time to run around. Like 16 hours a day.

But he chews on the bars to the door when I lock him in and it makes me feel sooooo guilty. Is there anything to worry about? Should I just get over myself and let it go, or is this a serious sign of anxiety and that I am caging him up too much or something?

Thanks. I just feel so bad that he is emotionally distressed about being locked in at night, if that is what this is.

it doesn’t sound to me like there’s anything to worry about, but other members might prove me wrong. i’ve heard of this happening with many rabbit owners when there’s never anything wrong health wise. if you leave the little guy out to free roam for such a long time every day, then you’re definitely fine on that part. he might just want to come out to play some more.

He doesn’t want to be confined. Could you not leave him to free roam overnight? Or perhaps add a pen to his crate at night?

I agree, while you do give him plenty of time out, he wants all the time! If you can attach an xpen to the cage and make him a run he might enjoy that. But if he isn’t a chewer why can’t he be out at night as well?
