I’ve had 8 month old Louie, a little 4lb Rex for about 2-1/2 months and the last couple of weeks he’s spending much more time laying around – in his cage and when he’s out.

When he first came home he’d binky and run and explore just about the whole time he was out.

Now he’ll now flop down and nap about anywhere.  I know that’s a sign of being comfortable here, just getting worried he’s not running around as much as he did when he first came home with me.  He’s alert and eating well – I’m careful to feed him 1 Tbsp of pellets twice a day and about 3/4 cup of greens twice a day and he’s good about drinking and eating timothy hay all day.  He’s VERY excited at feeding times and does ZOOM around in the morning before breakfast for a quick couple of minutes but is more interested in eating than playing.

We’re in Florida and although I have the air conditioning running all the time, it is around 100 degrees outside.  He still hasn’t gone through a big shedding though there’s a little more fur flying lately, and he’s constantly cleaning himself.  He’s not acting sick, just spending a lot more time napping  . . . . .is this normal?

Sounds like it could just be normal behavior! In addition to getting more comfy with his environment, adult rabbits are generally more laid back than young ones. So he could also just be maturing

My buns are free range and spend about 5 minutes a day zooming/binkying, maybe an hour or two exploring and playing. The rest of the time is devoted to napping and eating, little lazy butts!

I agree with TB. It could also be the heat – the hotter it gets outside, the more lazy buns get it seems. Also, I might increase brushing if you’re noticing more fur about so that he doesn’t ingest too much when he’s cleaning himself .

thank you both – you each made me feel better about Louie!

happy binkying to both your bunnies!
