I just got a new pet rabbit – I’ve had her just 11 days. Usually she’s active in the evenings, but tonight she just lay on the ground for the whole evening. Sometimes she was in a “hunched” posture, sometimes flopped out with her legs to the side of her.

But she’s eating fine. I gave her parsley and pellets, and she ate them pretty eagerly. She’s also eating plenty of hay, and pooping what seems to be a normal amount. She’s drinking fine too.

Thinking she might have some gas or be cold, I put a warm water bottle near her, but she didn’t lie next to it.

What should I do? Should I take her to the vet with lethargy as the only symptom, or wait another day and see if she perks up?

Is she actually lethargic or just not active? If you offer her treats from across the room, will she come to you? If yes, she’s probably just a bit tired. My rabbits sometimes have evenings where they don’t do much. As do I :p If she’s actually lethargic/won’t come to you for treats, I would suspect something is off but the fact she’s eating and pooping are great signs

            Thanks!! Really appreciate it.

I was going to just do nothing, but I heard her clicking her teeth, so I took her to the vet and they gave me GI stasis meds. Better safe than sorry. We’ll see how she does.

The next day she was eating and pooping less, so I took her to the vet. She got some gastric motility medicine, and she was doing better in a day or two! Thanks so much!!
