So My bunny Nala comes inside the house for her exercise, she’s been in since 11am this morning & it’s now 10:30pm she has the run of the hallway and the kitchen.. this evening while I was in the kitchen with her she ran extremely quick from the carpeted hall way into the kitchen which is lino, even though I’ve laid blankets she slid across the floor I think she may have hit the bottom of the cabinets.. she started to limp a few minutes later holding her back leg up.. she did eventually put it down after about 1-2 minutes.. she’s still using that leg to scratch her ears so I thought I would keep an eye on her, I laid on the floor & she seems to come alive around this time so she is hopping around & on me but I can hear her making noises, I’m not sure if it’s a grunt but it does sound like it to me.. I can’t stand the thought of her in pain! so she has vets Tuesday for her RHD2 injection but should I try get her in tomorrow? Also she’s a hutch rabbit, she has a 6 foot double hutch, do I put her back in her hutch tonight her leave her indoors? Ive had bunnys in the past as family pets but she’s my first one I’ve actually owned so I’m very worried.. I must mention this morning she had very tiny poo that was sticky.. is this normal? But as the day has gone on her poos looked normal.. hope someone can give me some advice.. thanks

That’s good that she is using that leg. And the grunting could be honking since it’s happening when she is hopping around you (courting behavior). As long as she continues eating/drinking/pooping normally (not sure what the sticky poop was but the important thing is that her poops are normal now), you can probably wait until Tuesday to get her leg checked out. It sounds like maybe she just twisted it a little or bruised a muscle? If she were in serious pain, she would most likely stop eating. I hope everything turns out ok .

Thanks Luna.. She seems ok this morning too although i heard no noises, i also googled honking noise and that is the exact sound she is making! not a grunting sound, as i googled those too! So honking means happy? I actually fell asleep on the floor with her last night, i was reluctant to put her in her hutch.. At one point i felt some thing itchy on my nose when i opened my eyes her face was on mine and she was licking/nudging my nose! super cute!  I feel our bonding takes 1 step forward 2 steps back sometimes as she has a very strong personality & is pretty stubborn at times so last night she melted my heart i didnt even care that she woke me up at 2 in the morning!

I have however moved her vets appointment to today instead of tomorrow just to put my mind at rest it also saves me getting up super early on my day off tomorrow.

This was her last night relaxing near her favourite Disney blanket

Lionheads are known to have quite big/strong personalities. It’s one of the myriad reasons I love mine.

I’m glad she’ll be seen by her vet sooner, but my instinct says she just got bruised – otherwise her behaviour would be much more withdrawn and eating / pooing would be affected. Good luck with her jab, too. (((Nala)))

That she certainly has! She is only around 4 months old and has so much character and attitude! Someone told me that female rabbits dont bond with female humans? Apparently they just dont like female human? But We seem to be getting on ok, some days shes more interested than others of course, but i really dont want her to not like me in time!   Shes not too keen on my partner but then again he dont really spend much time with her, shes not aggressive to him she just wont hop up to him.

I think so too, i think last night i was just worried and was fussing alot. Im a natural worrier in general but even more so when it comes to my animals! She basically inhaled her pellets this morning the little piggy so i know she is not off her food. One of my families previous bunnies fractured his leg while playing in the garden so that was the first thought that came to my mind! Thank you for your reassurance though! Its much appreciated!

Nala went to the vets today her leg is absolutely fine, might of just bruised it.. the noises she was making was honking not grunting! I must also say that whilst in the kitchen With her that night I fell asleep & she managed to get behind the washing machine & chew through a pipe! so I woke up to a flooded floor.. silly me! But Thank god she’s ok though, She’s very healthy & put on 56 grams since her last vet check 4 weeks ago & she also had her RHD2 Injection.. she’s currently at home after having lots of strokes, a good brush & a few little treats she now sleeping contently in the kitchen
