My bun has been overproducing cecotropes. In the morning she has 2-4 clumps around her cage. I clean it and her feet every time, so I know they are not from the day before.

        Info and daily diet:

        -spayed, 3 years, 3.4 lbs

-1 cup of cabbage, carrot tops (the green leaves), romaine lettuce

-unlimited hay (always seems to eat all of it during the night)

        -1/8 cup pellets

When I first introduced greens, this happened so I removed them from her diet. It has since started up again so I know they are not the problem. Bought straight pellets instead of the “party mix” packages with all of the extra things. This did nothing. I have also tried reducing the amount of pellets she receives.

Really at a loss here, does anyone have any suggestions or have any clue of what might be going on? Thanks so much for reading!!

Have you tried eliminating a veggie for a week and then eliminating a different one the next? Like a process of elimination?

Some buns are sensitive to cabbage and cruciferous veggies in general. Could be the culprit. And keep in mind that a bun’s GI system can take weeks to regulate after being irritated by something, so you won’t necessarily see a change right away. If you want to reset your bun, you could do unlimited hay and water for a month or so, then gradually introduce the pellets again, and then after about another month of ok tum, slowly bring back one green at a time.

I didn’t even think of that, I’ll try that when I start to introduce again, thank you!!

Thank you for the information, I had no clue. A reset sounds like a good idea, I’ll give that a try.
