I have a 24×36″ approx dog kennel cage like this >
        https://www.chewy.com/frisco-fold-carry-single-door-dog/dp/116527?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=hg&utm_content=Frisco&utm_term=&gclid=CjwKCAjw2ZXMBRB2EiwA2HVD-HEWC3oklhgIEpu8DuhZAhGxVx-D-A_iQ-B6vW_eNciwDAWvl3-WXxoCUcQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
that i have “transformed” into a rabbit cage. He has a shelf, litter box, hay hanger and water and food bowls. It all fits quite nicely (he is a mini rex) and he has lots of room left. My problem is how do i turn this black eye sore into something that looks nice? First thing I thought of was paint, but he will chew on the bars of the doors at feeding times like “Hello! FEEDING TIME!!!!” lol. Is there a paint that is chewer safe?

Any other thoughts on how to make the cage look nice?

(P.S. to mods, sorry if this is the wrong spot not sure where to ask this, move please if so. )

That doesn’t look very big. Is he a free roam rabbit that just needs a ‘home base’ or will he actually be shut in?

To make it look nicer, you could hang colourful baby links and wooden chew toys etc.

I second the idea of attaching some rabbit safe toys. Perhaps drape a towel or bit of fleece over part of it to make it feel safer and warmer. I assume that is just a “home base” and not where he lives all the time?

I think an option to look into is customize a piece of furniture to turn into your bunny’s home ;sort of like this one https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pinterest.com/amp/pin/542331980108523000/ . I’m in the process of turning a buffet table into a cage for my bunnies. They’re only caged for six hours during the night though and get free roam the rest of the day. I would guess if they were in there for a long time the furniture might be more difficult to clean and he might think it’s a giant chew toy. So make sure you proof the chewing in the furniture and put plenty of toys in there and I think it could make a cute little homebase for your bun

He does get out of his cage often, though not for hours at a time. Although he is litter trained, he refuses to even look at his litter box when he is free roaming, so I usually end up cleaning up some liquid :S Plus I have dogs as well, and though they are very sweet with him, I wouldn’t want him injured by accident. So I usually let him roam about an hour at a time while I’m not so busy I can’t keep an eye on him(that way I have a 50/50 chance of getting him back to his litter box in time for a potty break lol). (If you can offer some suggestions on how to get him to use his litter box /outside/ his cage I’d be thrilled!)
I have thought of DIYing a piece of furniture, but since he is a chewer, I would worry about him eating it. I see all these awesome examples on Google and I get so jealous! I and my family are pretty good at diy though, its like our hobby XD Maybe…….
I like the decorating with baby links as well! Why didn’t I think of that? Lol
                Thanks!
