Benji hasn’t drank out of his water bottle for two days. Last night he came out of his cage and went to my chihuahuas food and water bowls. He drank out of her bowl , but I took him away from it and held his bottle and he drank out of it. This morning it is still the same amount gone as last night. I gave him a water dish and his drinking out of it fine. Why is the all of a sudden ignoring his bottle ?

Rabbits generally prefer bowls, perhaps he just decided a bottle is too much hard work?

My Bam decided one day that drinking from a bottle was not for him. He’d been drinking from a bottle for 2-3 years, I could always hear it ringing in the middle of the night.

I had a back-up water bowl that he’d never touched before, but he started to drink from that instead. This happened 2-3 years ago and he’s never gone back to the bottle. I keep it as a back-up though.

I don’t trust bottles. The flow can alter or stop too easily or leak and the water lost.
My buns prefer bowls and it’s more natural for them.

Hard to say why Benji decided it’s no longer for him! Whether there was a fault with the bottle (they have to be replaced a lot) or if it was in position he didn’t find as comfortable to get to? Who knows?!
Is he eating okay? His teeth aren’t bothering him?
