So my friend and I are getting bunnies this late August. However, she’s going on a gap year for 8 months in January and will need me to look after hers while she’s away – but I’m scared they’ll get so used to each other and perhaps bond while my friend’s rabbit stays with me that they will both feel really sad and depressed once my friend comes back and has to take her one home.

Any tips or advice? What do you guys think? Should my friend still get one before her gap year, around the same time as me, or wait until she comes back from her gap year to get one?

Rabbits should only be put together when both have been spayed or neutered, then properly bonded. Once they are bonded, they should not be separated. If these rabbits can’t be kept together for the rest of their lives, it would be cruel to let them be together at all. They will need to be housed separately and let out for their play and exercise separately.
