Yes, she is nearing 8 months! We can definitely tell she has grown! She still doesn’t even seem that big to us, until you go hang out with our 10 week mini lop and you realize how much she has grown!! its funny when they sprawl out, legs and all, and flatten like a pancake. Then you realize how big they truly are!

Breintje was feeling a bit under the weather because of the VHD2 shot he got today. He felt a bit cold to the touch, so I carried him around for a while in a shawl. He got very comfy and also right back on temperature.

I know it’s bad quality but this little brat took over my bed this morning when I was in the shower. Spoiled rotten.

Bas took Breintje to his house for the weekend because we are expecting a lot of noise disturbance from a hardcore festival. I’ll be joining them tomorrow. Breintje was in his old room for 10 seconds, and immediately ran to his perch on the window sill. He has a lovely view of the campus and the surrounding forests there, and spies on everyone walking past. Here he is: the lord of the manor surveying his domain.

So glad that Breintje wasn’t born a peanut  Buns who’ve inherited the dwarf gene from both parents are called peanuts, these ultra tiny buns are not viable. Always sad when that happens while breeding with dwarfs.

I’m sad because I’m missing my fluffy buddy. There’s no-one who throws my knitting off the couch, or sits next to me happily munching on his own turds and tries to kiss me afterwards…

Somebunny decided to go for a dive into the hay box. Naturally, he got trapped, but he couldn’t have cared less. After munching on some hay for a while, he finally decided to chew his way out. He totally didn’t appreciate my help…

Otis got through his surgery just fine. He’s a lot easier on the eyes…

We also got to try out his new seat belt/harness. Normally he is a nightmare in the car, but with this on, he was cool as a cucumber. So much so that it was starting to creep us out…

Thanks Jersey! That white tail belonged to the most boisterous Giant White I’ve ever seen. Totally crazy bun. I had the opportunity to take her either but she was only a baby, was already HUGE, and had been raised in the shelter from birth so she had literally no fear. It was hilarious but you would have to have the patience of a saint to take her home!

@Wick: with you too? I thought we had an extreme case here. Breintje’s been at it since april I think, and it’s driving me crazy. There’s fur in my nose, my food and in all my crafts. My dad will wear 25% bunny fur socks if this continues.

I’ve got five in mega-moult-mode Gina is the only one not moulting right now, the house is a fog of bun-fur 24/7!

I decided to try a one on one with Terry and Lily in the bathroom – neutral territory. They noped out of touching the floor and leaped onto my lap and squished up together. So we put the mat down for them and they each groomed the other, then Lily kept demanding more but Terry was being useless so at one stage she ended up nearly under him and he still didn’t get the hint. 

Oh that is so cute! I might try that trick with my two when we start bonding.

Makes me want to find Wick a bonding buddy. So cute and snuggly, especially when more grooming is requested and not always given, haha. Sometimes rabbits like giving each other tough love perhaps!

Recently bought Wick a new car-ride seat since he’s doubled in size and I’m preparing for potential long car-rides with him. He absolutely loves it, and I highly recommend the car seat too! It’s not a carrier, but you seat-belt it into your car.

Lily and Maggie had their first bonding sessions today. This is from session two after a little bit of nipping/Lily losing some fur. I gave them some pats as they settled, then Lily groomed Maggie so Maggie decided that Lily is okay and might make a good slave.

I’m feeling positive for these two, along with Lily and Terry, and that I will eventually have a trio. And then a group of 4 when Greebo’s hormones settle!

Rabbit nuzzles are so cute! Your grey rabbit looks so adorable and spherical, haha. Best of luck with their bonding!!

someone is in a time out for peeing on the bed… didn’t last long as could just not resist that face…I’m weak!

 this is a really sad post for me around this time last year may first rabbit nibbles passed away. she wasn’t the best rabbit and i didn’t know how to take care of a rabbit at that time. the reason she wasn’t very good was because she was neglected at her old home before i got her and she was just barely domesticated so she was to feral to really make into a cuddly nice pet. even if she wasn’t the best I really loved her she died if a hair ball or cancer. it was really hard to deal with because she died in my arms right after I got home from someone’s house and then like two days after that I had to bathe one of my chickens for the fair I turned away for a second and she ate some water and bubbles from the soap. the chicken was named tulip and she was my favorite. so obviously right now is not the bets time for me. they both have a shared grave in the garden where they loved to play.

Maggie and Lily are doing well bonding. We had two more sessions today with no nipping. In the second session they shared some food, and then Lily realised it was a fun game to snatch carrot out of Maggie’s mouth and run laps of the bath with it while Maggie vaguely chased her for it. 

I also had Mitzi come in to help supervise for a while before she decided that bathrooms aren’t comfortable.

@Bianca: It’s official, I’m totally in love with Lily. That round face, those big eyes and those ears <3 She has to have a bit of dwarf in her ancestry! 

Yikes, be careful what you wish for! I was complaining about the moult not coming along, and decided to give Breintje a couple of sunflower seeds each day to help speed it up. Rabbit breeders say that these “increase your rabbit’s body temperature and can trigger spontaneous moulting”. Don’t know if it’s true, but the vet approved of it, and we’re now facing a massive moult!

Breintje has been super licky yesterday, constantly interrupting my sewing I was doing on the couch. Couldn’t get a moment to finish my project without him demanding pettings by licking me. Itchy bunnies can be very annoying, so I decided to put him on a towel on the table and check for any loose fur. His entire left flank came off with only some very light plucking, and there was a whole new layer of fur underneath it already. He normally sits very still during plucking, twitching a bit “eek that tickles”. But now he was toothpurring and constantly trying to lick my hands and face. He looks like he’s been mauled by a bear, but he definitely seems happier that the itchy old fur is gone.

Ellie, I actually love his face. He’s just so cute.

BM, I’m so sorry about Nibbles. X

Carmela is settling in well enough here right now. She’s quite standoffish and independent so I’m a bit worried about the bonding, but the shelter have told me that a friend of theirs loves Rexes and will happily give her a home of the bonding process goes really badly, although I am absolutely not going to do that unless we absolutely have to. I’m determined to make this work!

Hmmm. Okay thank you. I am trying to figure out whether he is clear or not actually. He does have a damp nose and has for a while but no sneezing other than when halfway deep in hay. He has been a little chatter box since he was little. He gives the same sounds almost like grunting when eating, cleaning, and excited but just when sitting he breaths normal and quiet. The snoring only starts when he is fully asleep. He was just at the vet for his neuter and they said his breathing was good. I will call the vet again tomorrow just in case. Thank you for looking!

When Lily started this piece of lettuce was as big as her – not that it’s hard to find food bigger than a rabbit who weighs less than 1 kilo! 

Lily is very good at becoming one with her food! You should see her with nasturtium leaves! 

Greebo had a cuddle on husband’s lap. See the stare? That’s the one he does at the girls. Except its extra creepy behind the playpen bars!

But in saying that, how adorable is his chubby face!!

Well he gets to see them a lot in the study because they are only separated by a playpen. But I did have them in the playpen in the lounge room today and I let him out in the lounge room – so they all got to see each other in a different environment. It was pretty funny. I posted some photos on my bonding journal – Terry decided to do lots of gloating by flopping as dramatically as possible in front of Greebo. Greebo just wanted to say hi.

Fixed! Ah, he’s such a squee fluffball So fuzzy it’s hard to guess which side is which I don’t even want to think about what moult looks like in your house. Oh dearie…

I just took a pic of our little moult monster. His summer fur is a lot shorter than his winter fur, which makes for interesting shapes. He looks like the Hunchback of Notre Bun in this pic, just because of the difference in fur length

Greebo, Peep, and Breintje are so adorable! Is it bad that instead of brushing her, I just pluck her fur when she is molting? She hates being brushed and that is why I don’t like to do it.

No, it’s not bad as far as I know. We discussed it with the vet, because Breintje doesn’t want to be brushed as well. She said that we could *gently* pluck him, to get loose tufts out. It’s important to do it very lightly though, because you can easily overdo it and create bald spots accidentally. He also gets some extra food during moult, and a couple of sunflower seeds for some extra protein and oils for his fur. And extra pettings, so many pettings. It’s a splendid way to get a little bit of fur out each time.

Ok thanks! I’ll try that sunflower seed thing. Do I feed it to her shell and all?
Also, I disguise the pluck as a pet so she doesn’t get mad and run away flicking her feet at me lol

It is horrendous.. I take full shoeboxes of hair off them. Its a disgrace! It’s at the stage I plan to actually start keeping the fur and spinning it for knitting -at least then I might be a bit happier about moult season!

@BunNoob – I wonder if it’d be good to raise the bottle a bit so the neck isn’t as craned? It’s a weird angle, but when Wick had his bottle (no longer), I raised it high because he seemed to like resting his front paws on the grid and drinking while on his hind legs better than bending his neck. Your bun’s ears are so cute and big. Large contrast to mines O.O

He’s really tiny though so if I raise it he would have to lift his front paws to get to it… but sure.

@BN – Definitely just a suggestion based on my experience. Other people may differ. I’ve only had experience with what Wick seems to prefer, so it could be different for your rabbit!

How would you guys like it if I adopted this little bun? His name is Treble and he is a jersey wooly. I think he would bond well with Reese! Getting him is probably not happening though. I’m just wishing! (There is a possibility though) He is just too adorable to pass!

The new bun I got for Dulce is finally settling down and seems to be very happy here. I decided on naming him Ristretto (a type of espresso shot) or Riss for short. Here are some pictures of them being lovey

Mel- They look so perfect together! And a coffee name is perfect. Definitely reminds me of coffee. So pretty. 

Treble and Tribble are so close, he could be called either one! That is a great idea! I convinced one of my parents so far, I said I would make them yarn out of his fur when he molts a couple of times. (They love to knit and crochet) I’m definitely not shearing his beautiful floof. Other parent said we would talk about it tomorrow.

Lol I didn’t know bunnies liked ball pits! I should make Reese one! Your bunnies look like fluffy teddy bears!

I don’t know how much they like it, but I put pellets in it anf they root around for them,so it’s just another thing to help stimulate them, sometimes I throw cardboard and tunnels into the pit with less balls and they can chew in it instead

But yeah they are totally ridiculous looking. Peep looks raggy cause of his moult but when I first met him the only feature he had was a nose–even his ears were hidden by his fluff!

Squee! Burichi, your bun is so beautiful

BB friends – I give you “Balou”  – check out his face – although in the first photo it’s more a WHAT is that camera thing in your hands. He has been mine for just over 24hrs now. Papers to be signed in 2 weeks if all goes well.

He is a 6.5 year middle aged chap who was rescued 3 weeks ago from a house with ‘his beotch’ (lol) and their 7 pups.

All underfed (well pups were ok) – we imagine him to need to add 5 kilos to be a nice shape and get muscle back in his legs.

As a result there are no big walks yet, and he is very wobbly when he gets up from his siesta.

I am hoping incredibly deeply that it is muscle waste which will ‘simply’ grow back in time.

Jess gave him a welcome kiss as soon as he walked in. Cali, a welcome hiss !

He walked passed the buns pen with a nochanlant sniff, not bovverred and so this morning I let them out.

Zou bounded up to him. Henry thumped his annoyance and ran around like a headless chicken for 5 mins at ANOTHER furry in the household. When he realised noone else was fussed, he chilled out !  LOL

So there – if all goes well, Balou will join the family and is the LAST to do so.

Balou, you are gorgeous!! He seems like a perfect fit for your seemingly ever expanding fur family I am sure that he will warm up in no time once he realises he is safe and very much loved Part border collie maybe? Or am I just seeing what I want to see?

Awww, what a beautiful dog Vienna! I really can’t imagine how and why people can mistreat animals, it makes my blood boil! I hope that he makes a speedy recovery and that he’ll feel at home in your furfamily soon! Hope that the hisses will turn into kisses. It’s also a bonus that he’s already a bit older, so he won’t be overly playful with the buns and the cats. This makes the initial bonding easier.

Balou is so handsome! He looks very gentle and wise.

Haha! That is exactly it! Bertha does this to me too, she has an insatiable appetite for grooms! 

Q8- I wish I could dress Sterling up in costumes like I did Olivia and Bindi. With Halloween coming, I’m just itching to make costumes. I just sold some of their previous Halloween costumes to raise money for shelter bunnies.

Sterling says that when it comes to ears, size matters. 

Perched on the sofa…. very high above the ground…. (sofa is in the middle of the room, not against a wall!)

Terry and Greebo’s first “bonding session”. I decided to start with patting them both at the same time – first on separate laps (thanks husband!) then squished together because they were loving it. Terry decided to start grooming Greebo!

I am actually a twin (I also have 3 other siblings) and we all joke that I am the milk mans baby because I have so many different features from the rest of my family. They are all blue eyed, sharp faces and I am green eyed, with more rounded facial features and I don’t look like them   My husband says that I shouldn’t be bothered because I turned out the cutest…but I think he may be partial

You and Chew may be more similar than you think!

He may hate being IN hideaways but they sure are good to cuddle and are great pride rock perches

They should be in September pictures but I didn’t think – not sure how I move them??
