I have a French angora male and need to find him a rabbit friend, he’s always been with another bunny and has had two bonds so far. I don’t think I can take food care of another angora though, I don’t have enough time to brush two rabbits every day. Camilla (my bunny) is high matting and I need to groom him almost every day. Can I adopt a non-angora for him or should I stick with his breed? If not, should the rabbit be the same size, or the same weight, because Camilla looks huge because of his fur, but he’s only 7 pounds.

From what I have seen and understand from research, the breed and size don’t really matter when picking out a friend. Since he’s already been bonded you know that he’s not a “loner” rabbit, so that’s a start! I have heard people say to try to get rabbits that are similar in age … simply because if one goes the other will be grieving. But I don’t think that is necessarily something that you have to do.

I’m assuming he is neutered if he’s already been bonded. I can’t imagine two bonds with an unneutered hormonal male. lol. and Im sure you know that the other bun will also have to be spayed/neutered.

Breed doesn’t matter when it comes to bonding.

Don’t you trim your angora? It seems many people do, to avoid matting and the constant brushing. I follow the cutest little angora on Instagram, Yuki.5_ His owner trims him and he looks lovely. I so want an angora rabbit one day =)

It wouldn’t matter if the other bun was an angora or not. Our leader LBJ10 has a Jersey Wooly who is bonded to a normal-haired lop.

Bunnies don’t discriminate. Breed and size doesn’t matter. It’s more personality, and sometimes gender that matter.

I have an angora bonded with a short haired rex mix. They will soon be bonded with a netherland dwarf x mini lop.
