I recently got my rabbit back. I lived out of the country for a year and a woman who owns a farm took care of my two rabbits during that time. She fed them alfalfa pallets and hay, but no veggies, which is why I need to introduce them to my rabbit again. One of my rabbits died while at her farm, we don’t know why, and yesterday I picked up my male, four year old angora. I left out timothy pellets, water, hay, and some cauliflower and broccoli for him last night and by morning he had not touched anything except for the veggies, and some hay, although I don’t know how much he ate. I tried to get him to drink, and realized he must have forgotten how the bottle works, and then drank a centimeter of water. He still hadn’t touched the pellets by late morning when I took him out of the cage into the pen where he ran around for an hour and a half. He didn’t eat the grass/leaves I left for him, let he veggies, or any of the pellets, bu tmoght have eaten hay and nibbled on some grass outside. At first he was exploring and nosing around, but then sat down for a long time, until I brought him into the house to brush him. He still won’t eat pellets, veghies, or grass that inleavenozt for him, and nosed away the waterbottle when I held it out to him, but pooped aand peed, so he must be eating a bit. Is something wrong? Should I take him to the vet, or will he just eat when he’s hungry?

Bumping this up as this was stuck in pending due to a glitch. Was just approved now. Can you give us an update?

alfalfa hay is no good for rabbits; not the right nutriments // use timothy hay, if you’re unsure

for pellets, the safest brand is Oxbow, I believe // Some brands, such as the ones they sell at Walmart, can get your rabbit really sick

Broccoli and cauliflower can cause stomach issues

I think you should start to reintroduce him to veggies by feeding him with all kind of lettuces (not iceberg though), but also simple parsley, dandelion, and green pepper (be careful to remove all seeds).

If the rabbit is inside in a A/C controlled home it’s perfectly normal that they won’t drink water. Just make sure to wet (rince) the lettuce.

This thread didn’t really get completely stuck. It was copied and pasted in my name:
