  so I just got my 8 week old holland lop (he is so sweet omg), and in preparation i had bought alfalfa hay and baby pellets, like everything Ive read has said to do.
  
  Well I got there, and the women told me never ever to feed a baby alfalfa because it can kill him or something?? I don’t know, but she has only ever had timothy hay and timothy pellets. But I have all these pellets and hay that I bought and can’t return. So in terms of his health, and me saving money, can I switch him to the baby bunny pellets but continue with timothy hay? I can just toss the hay I bough and get new timothy hay, but I really don’t want to throw out the pellets, and they are MEANT for babies, so can I do alfalfa pellets with timothy hay? Or do I need to do either/or, like alfalfa pellets AND hay, or timothy pellets AND hay?

  PS as of right now, I am just giving him what she gave me. Which is timothy pellets and hay.

  I’m not sure where the breeder got that from but alfalfa is fine for baby bunnies, you just don’t want adults having too much of it since it’s really high in protein and calcium which again is good for growing bunnies. I wouldn’t recommend feeding only alfalfa hay though as it will be hard to switch him off of it but go ahead and mix the hays and the pellets for your baby! Make sure for the pellets that It’s mostly the pellets he is used to with a little of the new ones and slowly increase the amount of new pellets over time so you don’t upset his tummy.

  Babies need alfalfa until theyre about 4 months old. Around 4 months old they can have alfalfa and timothy. By six months, they need to be weaned from alfalfa completely onto timothy Alfalfa is bad for adult buns, not baby buns.
