Hi everyone! This morning my 7 month old dwarf/lionhead went in for her spay. Everything went great, she’s been drinking tons of water, nibbling hay and I’m thrilled with how quickly she’s been back in the litterbox and how (relatively) normal everything looks!
My only concern right now, is the fact that she will NOT keep her right eye open! She came home with ‘goopy’ eyes, but I understood that it was just residue from what they put on their eyes to prevent them from dying out. I took a warm, damp cloth and tried to gently wipe away any goo that may have been causing her to keep the eye closed, but it didn’t help. I know that she can open the eye, but has only been doing so when necessary. I have been keeping a close eye on her since she came home about 9 hours ago, and it hasn’t gotten any worse or better. When laying down she is tilting slightly to the side with the eye closed, but that could totally be just the way she’s laying and I’m being paranoid! Is this something that can be normal after a surgery, or should I be taking her back to the vet when they open in the morning? Thank you in advance!
