Generally, Wick’s physical activity comes from 1) following people to and from the kitchen and 2) relocating to a different lounge spot because he’s bored of his current. Recently, I noticed that he really enjoys doing sustained, entire-room spanning and crossing bunny 500’s when in the bedroom (which has his hutch, where he stays during the night). It doesn’t happen often when he’s in the room on his own or if you’re there just standing around, but when you get on the bed, he goes nuts all over the floor.

I’m trying to think of it in terms of evolutionary-reasons or amusement reasons, but anyone have ideas why he’d get so excited when someone gets on the bed? He stays on the carpet and just zooms under the bed and all around the bedroom while you’re sitting on the bed. After a bit he’ll jump and prance on the bed, then just sit there for pets because he’s tired from running.

No idea, really. Maybe they are trying to pay us back for all the bunny supplies with some free amusement? Nothing funner to watch than some zoomies and binkies.

No educated guess here. But it must be awfully cute to watch.

I don’t know either. Could it be just overwhelming happiness? When I and Bam have been staying with my mother, Bam becomes very, very active after a couple of days. Binkies around and jumps on and off the couch like a happy puppy. He’s not otherwise an active bunny and he certainly isn’t a youngster. My pets like my mother a lot, my dog is like addicted to her (and her car).

Maybe when you get on the bed all is well in the best of worlds or something. My bridge dog used to take a log of firewood and start shredding it to pieces when the whole family was gathered for the evening. We all interpreted it as happiness.

Well there is an obvious reason…. whilst standing in the room, you were blocking his passage. Once on the bed, your have freed the floor space for his Royal Binkiness !!!! Hahahaha

Vienna is on point I think… free floor madness!!!

Rookie used to do a lap or too and then flop for a snooze….however…Sprocket on the other hand is much more active…loves the bunny 500 precisely at about 2am and he does not stop…back and forth and back and forth and back and forth…he also has not yet mastered the flop… he flips over instead all the time…giggles…I am really not sure when he sleeps. I only ever see him eating hay, running around or exploring or following everyone around like a little shadow and checking out what you are doing.

I agree with Vienna! We have a sectional sofa so because of the way it curves, it isn’t up against the wall. When we are both sitting on it, bun just starts racing around the couch as fast as she can free floor madness!

Haha that sounds hilarious! Ogg used to do that in the living room if we were on the couches. Although she liked it when the dog was napping somewhere on the floor so she could do flying leaps over her!

Terry is starting to do the same. Last night he thought it was a great game to sprint up to the couch, boop my husband’s hand then binky away as fast as he could.

And Maggie napped on my lap for two hours and told me off if I stopped patting her. o_O
