So Ive been thru the whole bonding process the past 3 weeks, I did neutral territory, bunny dates, stress bonding. It didn’t start out well my 1 yr old male bunny Oliver kept nipping and scaring the new baby bunny female Lily. after a while though it did progress. and long story short now Lily lives in my room (Oliver territory) in a short pen that she cant get out of but Oliver can come and go as he pleases since he normally has free run of my whole room. They dont fight, he hardly ever nips her any more its almost rare if he does. Hes never humped her and theyve never got into an actual fight. But they dont cuddle or groom eachother and every time Oliver approaches Lily (in a completely calm nice manner) she freaks out and thumps and then runs scared around the cage. Its been like this for like three days and they are around each other 24/7 now. I have noticed that Oliver almost prefers to be in the pen with her, but he doesnt get close to her. I feel sorry for him now it seems like he wants to be friends with her but she keeps running away. Ive even fed them some veggies right next to each other, he shares food with her and everything. They also use the same water bowl, hay box, and litterbox. Its like he has completely let her move in and he’s fine with her now but shes still terrified of him..is there anything i can do to make them actual friends??

As long as she remembers shes afraid of him, she will continue to be terrified. You need to remove that fear by keeping them 100percent out of eachothers sight for atleast two months. A scared bun will never bond with the bun its afraid of, which is why you need them to completely restart.
