Hello everyone, my Bunny suddenly started peeing on the bed last month. I couldn’t believe it when he first did it, but brushed it off as an accident. It has occurred 5-6 times since June. He also pees in his cage, outside his litter box, almost daily. I thought this was water leaking for a long time and switched to a bowl, it was pee.
He is about 3 years old and not yet neutered. And aside from the occasional poops, he has always urinated in his litter box. My question is whether this is due to him not being neutered or recent changes I have made. At the beginning of May I changed his diet because I was feeding him a bowl full of pellets and some hay for the past 2ish years. His diet now consists of a variety of unlimited hay, 1/8 cup of pellets a day, and fresh greens every day/other day. I also bought him a bigger litter box around June. And he also drinks about 36 ounces of water daily, which is a drastic increase compared to his old diet. He pees a lot in his litter box, so I change it daily. But every time he has peed outside his litter box, his litter box was not dirty/soaked in urine.
Oh,. And he also broke a nail 2 weeks ago. I took him to the vet and he got antibiotics, but the behavior was occurring before this, I’m pretty sure.
If this is a behavioral issue due to not being neutered, I can understand I can’t do much until he is neutered soon.
But is there something in the meantime I can do to help stop/revert this behavior? I will try to actively keep him off the bed, I was doing this for a few days but gave in as he jumps on there to get hour long pets. Do you guys think it may be related to all the recent changes?<\p>
Thank you everyone for all your opinions/advice, I really appreciate it.
