Ophelia was spayed last Friday, so it’s been nearly a week. For the first few days, she really only had an appetite for lettuce and I noticed her poops were darker and squishier than normal. Not like they came out in squashed bits, they are still normal size and shape but it’s almost like they are “wet” so they are soft and just flatten when you squeeze them instead of “crumbling” like normal poops, but they still look the same as a normal poop on the inside. She is eating a lot more hay now, which she didn’t start doing until Monday. She was also on metacam for 5 days, so last dose on Tuesday. Could it be the metacam causing her poops to be softer? She did eat a lot more lettuce than normal in those first days because that was all she would eat. She has been back to her normal appetite of hay since Monday, and I feel like her poops should be getting back to normal by now. She is acting totally fine, eating fine, running and jumping around… I just wish I was seeing “normal poops”. Some of them are lighter and drier so I can’t tell if maybe she’s just peeing over the poop and it’s getting wet? It doesn’t seem likely though because I check her poop daily and it not usually that soft, even if she has peed several times in her box.
