  Yumi has been scratching her ear a lot, holding it in an odd position and shaking her head a lot- I thought it must have been an infection or mites so I took her to the vet. Vet said she couldnt see anything and said it might just be an irritation from fur.
  
  Last week I treated both rabbits for mites anyway when I realised Peep did in fact have some type of creepy crawlies living on him (topical treatment that contains ivermectin)
  
  Yumi’s ear scratching hasn’t seemed to have eased off though
  
  Her ears do look clean and the vet did check them both (although it seems to be localised to one ear) even with the extra scratching the ear isn’t too inflammed that I can see-she has a very furry ear and it makes looking into it difficult.
  
  I want to take her back to the vet about it, because it is definitely something that seems to be annoying her, unless she’s managed to develop some form of nervous tick..?

  This might not be relavent..
  
  But my cat has a funny shaped ear (he escaped once and got in a fight and didn’t come home till his broken ear was partly healed)
  
  And because of this his ear canal is smaller then normal, his ear builds up a lot of wax and it causes severe itching to a point thay he makes his ear bleed by scratching if we don’t get it cleaned out often enough
  
  So maybe if that one perticular ear is hard to look in maybe it’s oddly shaped too and has built up wax or something
  
  Besides that… hm. I found something that causes inflammation in the inner and middle ear caused by some sort of bacteria

  This site has a lot of other symptoms. But maybe her ear isn’t inflamed because of the itching (you mentioned there was some inflammation assumed from the itching) but from some sort of bateria in the ear?

  There doesnt seem to be anything evidently wrong which is the bizarre thing. The vet looked at it with one of those ear scopes and said there wasnt an excess build up of wax, no abnormal swellings, she doesnt flinch when you touch it (she likes ears rubbed)
  
  Q8- there doesnt actually seem to be any redness, no bumps or rash like symptoms
  the vet is stumped as am I.
  
  I have noticed that her ears have an awful lot of fur around them and on and in them-could it be the fur itself that is causing her irritation?

  If all else looks normal, then I would think it might be related to her fur. Maybe there are a couple strands that are hitting the inside of her ear in just the right spot that it irritates/itches/tickles? Could there be something irritating the outside of her ear and it just looks like she’s trying to scratch the inside of her ear when she itches it?

  Luna-She’s very specifically trying to get her hind paw into her ear, so it does seem to be the inside. I’ve looked and looked and so has the vet to no avail
  so short of getting her bloods done and a scrapping etc I dunno what else to do other than to assume its her fur irritating her.
