Carrot has been doing great! We love having her and wish we’d known about rabbits sooner! She’s finishing up her first bag of Alfalfa hay. Her food pellets are alfalfa based. She’s right around 10 weeks old (or at least when we got her they said she was about 7 weeks old so that would make her about 10 weeks). She’s only about 1/3 of the way through her food pellets so I’m not changing those yet. The next time I purchase hay, should I get Timothy hay or does she need alfalfa until she’s older? Thanks!

Glad you’re enjoying life with a bunny!

You can introduce timothy now. Even at an earlier age would be fine. If getting a junior pellet, alfalfa hay is not critical.

Fingers crossed she will take to it. You may need to get a small bag of alfalfa and mix it with the timothy. Orchard or oat hay are other options if she doesn’t take to timothy. Sometime you have to keep offering it.

Thanks! She didn’t “dive” into it quite like the alfalfa but she’s eating it more and more since the first day she had it. Her pellets are still alfalfa based. Any tips for keeping her from chewing on the baseboards?

Mainly just rabbit proofing them. How many does she have access too?

Some have success with sticking wallpaper corner protector strips on the top of baseboards.

The other day I came across an old photo on here showing galvanised mesh (hardware cloth) to protect them. Not the most attractive solution, but effective!

If you don’t mind the gnawing chewing sounds, attach strips of safe wood to the board so they are chewed instead.

I used some rectangular PVC downpipe that I sectioned lengthwise to put over some of my baseboards. Another member used strips of vinyl siding. https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/146549/Default.aspx
