My local vinyl floor store gave me their sample floorings for free that they didn’t need anymore and they were sorta small but I layered them and put matts over that for added security

But since my rabbits are chewers they managed to make holes by digging away the matts and chewing the edges

So then I went to home hardware and just bought a roll out vinyl flooring, I guess they are officaly called vinyl sheets

Mine only was 100 bucks which wasn’t bad overall and you just roll it out onto the ground and there you go!

I’ve since gotten rid of it because my rabbits are fully litter trained now and they haven’t big digging the carpet anymore so I didn’t need the protection for my floor but it worked very well in protecting my carpet

Wick has the 18in because he’s very small, and it’s fine now that he’s a bit larger because he never gets locked into it; it’s just a place for his food servings and litterbox.

I think some members have used those successfully, as long as your bun doesn’t chew them! I think I remember a thread where someone was using those covered with fleece blankets. 

My buns are destructo-buns, so that wouldn’t work for me. For the base of my NIC condo, I used a piece of plywood, covered with “VCT tiles” (a vinyl tile). I think I used double stick tape to attach them. They are cheap, easy to clean, durable (it’s what they use as flooring in hospitals and industrial kitchens), and not quite as slippery as linoleum or tile. It’s only on their bottom level, and they like laying on it when it’s hot out.  

Ah yeah, true! As long as your bun doesn’t eat them, they seem like a great option.

I guess it your worries about that you could get one of those heavy duty plastic sheets and lay it underneath it?

Like the kind sold in most hardware stores to protect the floor from paint?

I use them as a cushioned spot my buns like to sit on (I’m in a carpeted basement so the floor isnt to bad but its not super soft so I have lots of cushioning areas) but since they were litter trained before I got the matts I wouldn’t know if the pee would go through

But if it did go through one of those plastic sheets would collect it instead

Yeah there always an accident occasionally. Their accidents are usually on the carpet for my buns though, never the matts so I just wouldn’t know from personal experiance!

Anyway yeah I think that combo would be a pretty sure fire floor safe idea
