Hello all, as a new bunny mum I don’t know if i am being paranoid, need a vet or to give my bunny more time. I have had Slush a little over two weeks now so he’s jusr over two months old. He has had vaccinations and seemed to be settling in quite well, yesterday I gave his cage a clean (the first one was a quick out with the old in with the new, this one was a full clean everything scrub everything) and he got nearly a full day out of his cage while everything dried properly and was put back together… he hasn’t been in his hidey hole at all, he is eating fine… a small amount of junior pellets which i split into half, the vet saod to start introducing veggies so i did and again split into morning and night he has 1 sprout, half a romaine lettuce leaves and 4 baby kale leaves, i have introduced carrot to him and he will have a tiny bit every other day. And of course, hay. always lots of hay.
the concern is since yesterday he seems to.. not have forgotten his litter training but poo’s everywhere else as well, and tonight he just doesn’t seem his usual bunny self. Though he has eaten all his pellets and all his veggies and will go off and eat a lot of hay, he has binkied a little but he seems a little sulky. he was laying with his feet tucked under, watching me. and i swear i saw him wink. i looked this up and found lots of stuff about upset bunnies, is my baby boy showing off that ive put him to bed for the night, or should i be worried?

thank you in advance for any advise as to what i may be doing wrong. i am trying my absolute best to be a good bunny mum and dont want to let the little fella down
i am hoping its just a ew you cleaned my house that will settle in a day or two but i dont want to wait thst long in case it turns out to be something else

Hm, I don’t see anything too concerning about his behavior! As long as he is moving around some and eating well I wouldn’t worry. 2 weeks is a very short time for a rabbit, it can take some much longer to get fully comfortable. He could be a little less active simply because he is feeling lazy today, or perhaps he is getting more comfortable in his new home and is content to lounge more. Rabbits can get in moods day to day, sometimes Thor is much more active one day, cuddly the next, then standoffish on other days…
In general if he is upset with you he will probably turn his back on you, that is how rabbits show that they are displeased. If he is loafing facing you then he is probably just relaxing
Give him some time to settle in, it can take a few months for rabbits to fully settle in. Although he sounds like he is enjoying life with you already! Slush is such a cute name

It’s good that you are observing his behaviors a lot so that you can develop a baseline of what his normal self is like. Changes in behavior can (though not always) be an indication that something is wrong. Since Slush is eating/drinking/pooping, I agree with TB that it sounds like he’s just in a different mood today. Once more time has passed, you’ll feel more and more confident in what your bun is telling you

Aw guys thank you so much for the reassurance, this little guy has my whole heart and I am in tears because I was just so scared I was doing something wrong, I love this forum so much as everywhere says different things and this place is so consistant. Its amazing how complex rabbits actually are
Regarding pooping everywhere I thought it was just marking at first, its not that he is fully going to the toilet out of his cage but its more than one or two, its one or two… a lot. I have decided not to givd him hay out of his cage and see if that helps, i was stuffing it in toys to encourage foraging but following his back end around cleaning after him is upsetting him, and me. It could be that he is still just a baby and having accidents. He didnt go to the toilet at all while his cage was being cleaned (he had access and knew where it was and went as soon as it was back in his cage) which is why i find it odd that he is suddenly doing it everywhere else as well. he didnt before cage clean.. i had to clean two pellets out of his cage. now i am following him around its like they are just dropping out of his bottom. i have noticed on occasion he is just not making it as pellets drop out as he hops into his litter.

of course! i think on next cleaning day i will just use water on any soiled areas rsthdr than the whole thing… outside his box has stopped (there was some this morning but his box was quite full so understandable) and i let him out yesterday and no poops outside his cage so that must be it

That might be why he’s pooping everywhere too, to mark.
