So my sisters guinea pigs were just diagnosed with lice at the vet and he showed us them so I know how they look like
(And he said that humans can’t get this type of lice he’s a very good vet I’ve had him for all my bunnies and he’s never made a mistake I’ve noticed)
And I asked if it was possible my buns might of gotten them from me handling the guinepigs then my buns and he said no because the buns and guinea pigs have never had direct contact and the guinea pigs are kept in just the one room my buns never go to
But me being paranoid, looked through all the places I could think of in their fur for lice
I checked like 5 spots along their back, their ruff fur two spots along their spine, and a spot on each side of them both
Checked their foreheads, chest, and belly
I couldn’t find any sign of lice not a single white bug in their fur or on their skin, which, on the guinea pigs, were clear to the naked eye after parting the fur to the skin
Did I miss anywhere lice like to hang out? How often should I check for lice and for how many days before I can clear them? Any other suggestions?
Guinea pigs are on treatment and I will be much more careful with washing my hands after handling them for now on!
I know the doctor said that it wasn’t possible to transfer to my buns through my hands but I’m worried anyhow
Thanks in advance!
