Hi! I am new here. I have an American Fuzzy Lop that is about 4 months old. She is not yet spayed but will be getting spayed on the 27th of this month. Her name is Midna and I love her SO much.
I am sure not being spayed yet has a lot to do with the attitude but I think there may be other factors I am missing. It is also worth mentioning she is pretty free roam. I really don’t care for having a closed off area with her. She seems to like being able to run and stretch (other than a few peeing incidents she behaves really well outside of her pen. No cord chewing or destruction ) Midna will flick her feet at me sometimes if I pet her. She also likes to run away if I pet her sometimes too. On a few occasions just simply me or my brother entering the room will cause her to thump and run away. After a minute she will come over and sniff us like nothing happened! There is definently some bunny sass going on.
On the flip side Midna will climb on me, chase me as a game, let me feed her and pet her. She also flops next to me. Basically I am so confused! Does she like me? Does she need something I’m not giving her?
I try to dedicate most of my day to her. She isn’t cooped up in a cage. She has lots of toys that she sometimes plays with. Fresh hay and water. Greens. And fruit as a treat. I spend my time on the floor with her. I never pick her up unless I absolutely have to. No yelling. I try to hand feed her as much as possible. Etc etc.

How do I strenghten my bond with her? Is it just a matter of getting spayed? I love my little muffin so much and I just want to be able to show her!

I think it sounds like you’re rather bonded as it is!

Maybe someone else will think differently

But I have a rescued bun that adores cuddling and grooming me but she’ll run to her hiding spot when I pass by on foot or freak out if I pet her before she starts grooming me and I guess it’s just part of their nature as prey to be skittish

Obviously a lot of bunnies aren’t skittish around their owners at all but it does depend on the bun
