Most rabbits do love the companionship of their own kind, but as I said before, some rabbits prefer to be the only rabbit in the house, or are perfectly content to be the only rabbit, and in rare cases, you may have 2 rabbits that don’t get along and have to be kept separately. Not everyone has the space to do that. Since the cost of rabbits is a factor here, you need to remember that you will be having double the food expenses with two rabbits and also double any medical costs that may arise. Are your parents willing to spend the extra money that would be needed for a second rabbit? Unless they are willing to pay for both spays or for a spay and a neuter, you will not be able to get a second rabbit. It is necessary that they are both spayed or neutered, before you can attempt to bond them and let them live together. It is usually easier to bond a spayed female with a neutered male, but you can bond two rabbits of the same gender, with both being either spayed or neutered.
Is there anyone else in the family who can spend time with your rabbit during the times that you are not with her? A lot of rabbits don’t care for toys or only play with them for a little while then lose interest. If your parents are not willing to pay for two surgeries, then you will probably not be able to have a second rabbit.
