  I was super excited today to FINALLY get a puppy pen for Lily. I was doing homework but also was eating while I had her out so I put it up, I had one side without the pen showing and three with it. Quickly after putting her in she was trying to get out. She had a good amount of toys, one that she was chewing on right before I moved her closer to me. I’m just really confused. I was also thinking of using it outside tomorrow but because of that I’m a little scared. (Note. I’m going to start on the concrete in the front of my house and then move her to the grass, my parents use dissolving fertilizer and it has rained a lot and been over a month since it was used)
  I was also planning on blocking off one part of the room she is in so my parents don’t always have to put her back in her cage (she has free roam of the room but my parents use the room sometimes and they put her back in her hutch, which is only about 16 square ft)

  Animals don’t like being confined so of course she’s going to try to get out…

  Clarification, did she actually escape or was she just standing up or chewing at the edges of the pen? Its normal for a rabbit to explore the edges of a new environment, don’t worry too much about it! As long as least 3 ft high, she will probably not be able to jump it.
  
  Puppy pens are great for sectioning off rooms, and giving rabbits more space. we have one blocking off our TV area (Thor is free roam, but there are too many cords to bunny proof in there!). After the pen is in place for a while, she will probably get used to it being there and stop trying to escape.
  
  If you are taking her outside, make sure you keep a CLOSE eye on her at all times. Rabbits can dig under fences pretty quickly and you want to prevent an escape. Unfortunately this is how I lost my childhood rabbit, he got out of his backyard pen. Don’t want to scare you, just a word of warning that they really must be constantly supervised outside to avoid predation and escapes.

  Ok thanks, she has been able to hang out in my room now a few times in it. I think the problem was the size I set it up in and that I was outside of it now it’s… (checking…) 8×6 square feet plus a tiny bit more and one small level. It’s also more furnished. And for clarification she was chewing it and shaking it trying to get out which now she only does when she really wants me, meaning yesterday when I was moving all the furniture to keep the puppy pen from disrupting my whole room.
