  I feel terrible, but Dorothy somehow was able to eat part of a yellow tulip I had. She only had one petal before I was able to remove her from the area, but I know tulips are poisonous to bunnies. She is just relaxing right now, acting normal.. it has been maybe a half an hour. Do I need to take her to a vet or is this a watch and wait thing? Push water and hay? Help please!

  I have a feeling its the actual bulb that is the most poisonous part of the plant, rather than the petal, though I would keep a close eye, maybe ring the vet and see what they say?

  Push water and hay. I very much doubt you’ll see any ill effects. Wild bunnies often nibble on my tulips. Plant poisoning is actually quite uncommon in rabbits according to Frances Harcourt-Brown, famous British rabbit vet.

  I did exactly this. She is fine now. At first I was nervous because she seemed like she wasn’t all that interested in eating or drinking for a couple hours and was lethargic (it was in the middle of the day though). She was also waking up and having lots of cecotropes (she was eating them when she woke up), but no regular droppings. Maybe 1 or two tiny droppings, which was unusual. I massaged her belly a little bit and heard a few gas bubbles. After that she was fine. She ate the tulip at 11am, and by 5pm she was eating and pooping normally.

  You are right,Tulips are edible to us, (small amount) but its not recommended for bunny, but its the bulb that is very poisonous, daffodils are poisonous Foxglove and Hyacinth are poisonous too, if we or cats and dogs eat it it can cause convulsions and vomiting (But not vomiting in a bunny they can’t vomit) so as it was one petal and she is OK now I wouldn’t worry, just don’t let bunny eat anymore, Roses are fine,bunnies love roses, don’t give them any seeds.
  
  I knew a toddler who ate some Foxgloves when his mummy wasn’t looking, she noticed he was eating something, she thought it was funny and he ate more and more thinking he would be fine, but he became ill, he collapsed and had a seizure and died before an ambulance could get to him in the countryside.

  CA, that’s a very tragic story. Foxglove is very poisonous. Luckily they are hard to mistake for something else, but to a little child the flowers must’ve looked tempting
