I’ve been bonding a pair (male/female) since late February. They’ve gotten to a place where I can put them in the same cage or let them both roam the exercise area without worrying about them getting into a fight. I’m still putting them in separate cages when I’m sleeping/gone/at work, but they’ve got a pretty good relationship right now – cuddling, grooming, sharing food. When I open the cages in the morning, Bayley (my girl) rushes over into Poe’s (my boy) cage. They seem to have a very good relationship…except Poe is still mounting a lot. Honestly, I think he’s mounting more now than when they first started bonding (possibly because they are spending more time together now). Bayley puts up with it for a little bit, but she gets very annoyed with it. I’ll give him about 5 seconds before brushing him off, but then he will go right back at it three or four more times before pouting in a corner. This has been the constant behavior for a couple of weeks.
Any suggestions?
