My little Cotton, who’s probably about 11 months- 1 year. He’ll only eat carrots and kale. I read online somewhere that they should have a variety and carrots are kind of bad for a bunny if they have too much. I don’t want to keep him on just pellets though. I try to give him a carrot/kale every day but if it’s bad for him, i don’t want to do it. He won’t eat bananas or strawberries, it takes him a good 3 days to actually eat just a small piece of them. So, is it bad for him to have a carrot/kale daily or is it good? I just don’t want him to have only pellets. Any and all recommendations would be amazing! Thank you!

          Are you feeding hay?

Bunnies do need a variety of leafy greens. Carrot is a) not a leafy green and b) very high in sugar so must be given in small amounts and as a treat only.

Sometimes it takes a while for a bun to warm up to new vegetables Thor is very suspicious of new additions to her salad. You can keep presenting them though and usually they will start to like the new veggie. You should try a variety of leafy vegetables like Sarah said. Carrot should be kept to a small piece (only about a thumbnail long) a few times a week at the most. It’s ok if he doesn’t like fruit, they are very high in starches and don’t provide any essential nutrients. They are fun as treats, but if he doesn’t like them I would just stop giving fruit altogether, no point!

Here are some vegetables that tend to be favorites with bunnies: Parsley, cilantro, basil, romaine lettuce, fennel, dill, spring greens, and spinach.

I’d recommend trying one new vegetable a week, don’t introduce too many things at once as it may shock his system. I’m sure you will find something else he likes
