Hi, I just adopted a bunny girl last week, at first I fed her the hay that shelter gave, but she nearly touch, then I decided to buy timothy hay from Small Pet Select plus Oxbow oat, orchard grass and organic meadow hay, then I blend them(timothy 60%, orchard 20%, meadow 10% and oat 10%). Now she eats so much hay so I think she is full and doesnt finish her 1/4 cup of pellets, she eats vegies okay, 2 cups. She is about 3 years old. I just want to make sure its okay for bunny eating that much hay Thanks

Thats a pretty good thing, I think. Hay and greens are supposed to be the majority of a bun’s diet, anyway.

It’s a good thing, as Mikey says. Hay is supposed to be at least 80% of a bun’s daily diet. Some vets recommend 90% hay.

Well technically a bun can never have ‘too much’ hay. The more, the better

Thanks guys for replies. Btw, Lizzies poops are still dark, I read that they should be light brown, dark means not enough hay. Do you think she might be in lack of any vitamins? Right now she gets 1 Oxbow digestive system tab and 1 Oxbow skin and coat per day.

My Peanut eats plenty of hay yet his poops are dark whereas my Buttercup has lighter poops. I think it’s just how his are going to be.
