        Hello everyone,
since I am a new bunny owner, I don’t know much. My bunny is about 13 weeks old. Last week I started introducing vegetables in his diet. He is eating about 20 grams of lettuce with some carrot leaves for now. I was reading that he should be eating about 300 grams of vegetables a day since he weighs 1.5 kg. Should I start giving him more day by day or? Is he not eating enough?
Any tip, suggestion or constructive criticism is welcome.

The estimated amount is for once everything has been introduced. Always start off small and increase gradually. The full amount is sort of the end goal.

I agree it is good to go slow! You can gradually increase the amounts of vegetables he tolerates, and only add about one new vegetable a week.

I’ve hear that rabbits get most of their actual nutrition from pellets and hay. Vegetables are a nice variety, and also a source of minerals and nutrients. However, if you also give pellets, vegetables are not as crucial for that. I would just continue to slowly increase amounts and make he is tolerating them (poop remains normal!)

Bunnies should get the majority of their nutrients from hay and veggies. Pellets are just a supplement to ensure they’re not missing anything – they certainly shouldn’t rely on pellets for the nutrients they need.
