        Hey guys!

Lately I’ve been noticing that Buffy’s feet have had pink patches. I researched on it and realized those are sore hocks, and it sounds so awful. We recently moved to a new house and it has wood tiles all over, and I’m pretty sure thats the cause.

Last week I was cleaning her cage, and when i put her back i noticed there was a tiny bit of blood the moment she stepped in, and I saw that her right foot’s hock had an open wound. I put some vaseline to calm it down.

Now, maybe its just me overthinking it, but I feel like shes having trouble standing too because of the pain from her foot. I have absolutely no idea what to do because I’m not sure if I should bring her to the vet or if theres any home remedies I can do? The vet here is SUPER expensive.

thanks so much guys, let me know as soon as possible

        xx

The vet is the first step in this process as they can determine the extent of the damage and cure any infections.since there is blood you will need to wash his feet with warm water to cure any immidate infections. Afterwards mandating the wound with cause and medical tape is super important as when they sit in their litter box their urine can cause infections on open wounds if they sit in their pee (most buns do a little bit)

A vet is neccesary though for anti bacterial otherwise it can become infected and other horrible things can happen.

If there is an open wound it’s a case for the vet. When my Bridge girl had bad sore hocks, the vet put her on oral antibiotics as a precaution to prevent abscesses. Once abscesses form in the hocks, they are very difficult to erradicate. You need to treat it before it gets to that point. She also gave me some surgical scrub to wash her feet with.

I strongly recommend Memory Foam Bath Mats for her cage. These helped a lot in her case. And make sure her nails are clipped as short as possible.
