Hi guys, so a few days ago I had just gotten my 1 y/o bunny neutered. We brought him home later that afternoon, and as expected he didn’t move around or eat or drink much. He basically just stayed in his corner. Over the next day and a half he got back to normal. Started eating, taking his treats, running and jumping around again. However it’s been a little over a day since he’s pooped much. He pooped a lot throughout the first night back and the day after, but since then I noticed on about the second-third day since his surgery, he only pooped a few times and I haven’t seen much since.
We didn’t keep him in his cage the first two nights since we brought him home (he hangs out in the living room and just wanted to stay in his corner, so we set out food and water and let him be).
I want to say there’s more poop in his cage over the last day but since rabbits do go to the bathroom a lot it’s hard to tell if that much was there before if that makes since. Usually when he’s running around the living room he’ll leave some droppings here and there. (we’re working on litter training him) but he hasn’t done that since about a day and a half ago. So I’m not entirely sure if he’s actually going in his cage now or if I should be concerned.
My other concern was him drinking water. He hasn’t really drank that much water since being back, but we’ve been giving him quite a bit of lettuce which he apparently loves, so I’m kind of assuming since lettuce contains quite a bit of water that’s the reason.
Other than that he’s back to normal. He’s running around, jumping, eating hay, fruits, veggies, treats. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain at all. The vet gave us some pain meds and some for is GI track I believe for a few days. His last dose will be tonight.
Am I worrying too much or do I just need to just wait things out because his body is just working on getting back to normal and it’ll take a few more days?
