  My rabbit has been urinating an unusual color recently. In addition, despite being litter trained is definitely urinating and defecating outside of his box more than he used to. Lately, I have been trying out different vegetables as part of his diet. He was adopted by myself March 31, 2016. The latest vegetable has been bell peppers. Is it likely a dietary thing or do I need to take him to a vet?

  Rabbit pee comes in a wide range of colors. Plant pigments color it, but it can also become reddish spontaneously. It’s perfectly normal.

  I agree – looks normal to me. Colors range from yellow, orange, rust, and while it can appear red in color you just want to make sure there aren’t drops of blood in the urine.

  You can still feed him bell peppers. Just remember to feed it in moderation .
