when we got smudge she was about 1 pound the people told us she was pretty much done growing but she was tripled in size they said she was a dwarf hotot but I don’t think she is but whatever my actual question is how old is a rabbit when they are done growing
Well need a picture to determine breed, hopefully your not a parent with a suprise flemish.
Depending on breed small rabbits will keep growing til 4-6 months for small breeds, up to 10 to a year for anything medium or up.
It depends on the type of rabbit. If it was a dwarf they normally stop around 5-6 months but if it was a Flemish giant it would stop growing around 8-10 months because they are big and there growth is spread out more. What bread is yours (if you know) I might be able to tell you if you know what your rabbit is.
Well, you dont have a dwarf but you could have a mixed breed ![]()
ill post a picture on here in a little you guys might have an idea of what breed she is
You can use photobucket or imgur and post a link ![]()
How old is he?
Looks to me like an English spot possibly without the nose black and the spine trail.
He could be possibly mixed with a Havana rabbit as he has similar body and ear and eyes type but none the less he’s adorable.
If he’s a full English spot He will grow to be a medium sized bunny ranging between 5 and 8 lbs. If he’s 1 pound like you said he is still a baby and should be fed lots of alfalfa and pellets. Always makensure to take your bunny for an initial visit to ensure possible breed type and a weigh in. For medical considerations English spots have a habit of bone spurs in their molars older in years
when we got her she was like 1 pound and now she is about 3 pounds and shes about 4 or 5 months old
Same thing happened when I got Tony. He was about 2 pounds and they said he was a Lionhead, 4 months old, and wouldn’t grow anymore. Now he’s about six pounds and SO much bigger. He’s definitely a Lionhead cross because of his size…
The important thing is to make sure you feed/care for the bunny based on the size they are, not the size you expected. Which means more food, a bigger cage/space, and erring on the side of caution with age-related stuff. When I called looking to take Tony in at six months for his shots the vet said he sounded much younger than I thought based on how much he’d grown, so I waited another couple of months. We think he must have been closer to 2 months when I got him rather than four, so I left it a bit later before I introduced veggies/got him spayed. It was just a bit safer in case there was a mistake with his age.
Your bun is beautiful
Definitely looks like an English Spot to me, I imagine she’ll grow a bit more before she’s done!
Yep sounds like a beautiful growing Bunny!
My bandit is now 3ish lbs and being healthy. I would consider your habitat and ensure your ready for a bigger bunny a minimum requirement for medium rabbits is 2 feet by 4 so they can hop around at least three times in their cage and at least 24 inches high so they can periscope with their ears up.
Your bunny is definitely not a dwarf and expect got him to be the size of a cat. Try making plans now to ensure that your playspace is proofed as medium buns can jump at least 2-3 feet high. If you can’t prevent jumps to things like couches try offering a small box for him to jump on to allow h9m to grow his muscles
Even with a picture I’m not sure what breed she is. How old is he now? At 3 months old, my rabbit Bandit was half of his final adult weight. So I’d say your girl has a little more growing to do. She should be done by around 8 months of age.
she looks like (no offense) a really bad show quality English spot but she could basically be any breed that has a broken pattern. was she from a breeder, or rescue?
OH just thought of another breed she could be a checkered giant. sorry to say but they can get up to 12 lbs

btw is it possible that she wasn’t as old as the people said?
yeah I have been since I got her she can already jump up about 2 feet and she has stairs to get up to the bed if she wants I didn’t think she was a dwarf from the time I got her I’m glad I’m not crazy

I have a true mystery mix from the pound. We got him at 4 months old weighing 4 lbs. At 9 months we took him to the vet and he was still 4 lbs, so I figured he was done growing. He just had a sudden growth spurt at 10/11 months and is now at least a lb heavier. I’ve never seen such a large/sudden growth spurt in a rabbit before. So I would give it a full year before concluding a young rabbit is full grown.
okay thank you I just wanted about an idea of about how big she would grow but I didn’t know the actual breed

I don’t think it’s a checkered giant, most checkers have light brown patches and this is purely white/black spots. Im pretty sure to say that the bunny wont get bigger than 6-7 lbs. and is either an English spot without the spine stripe/nose butterfly OR possibly mixed with a Havanna with fur traits of a English spot as he looks EXACTLY like my bunny with the different colors.
She looks like an english spot, to me. They get to 5 to 8 pounds, I think
that’s what I thought too when the guy said she was a dwarf hotot I looked at him like he was stupid
