I think it’s for good luck. Anyway, we say the names of white (or partially white) forum bunnies instead. And, obviously, we can’t limit ourselves to just three.

Hello! I’m new here so I don’t know what a forum bunny is, and I don’t think I’m able to name any white parts of my rabbits as Olive is entirely dark grey, and Sabbath is entirely black! So instead, I’ll just let you all know that they’re currently taking it in turns to groom each other, because that knowledge in itself is so pure it’s basically good luck anyway hahah <3 Anyone fallen victim to any pranks today?

I feel awful! I did an April fools on my mum – I’m very close with her – and as I’m bonding at the moment I phoned her and pretended to be in a panic stating ” Binkys badly hurt, there’s nothing I could do! It happened so fast!” I could here her panicking on the phone saying she’d get here as soon as possible, I did a quick shout of “April fools the bunnies are fine!” you should’ve heard the colourful language she came out with ! Am I terrible daughter?

The buns have been outside all day… I’ve only brought them in now because i spent FOUR weeks building them the condo = they WILL sleep in it !!!!
The fag rugs are better. Still smell a bit. I’ll see if i can smell it when i come down in the morning (unlikely, Cali does some increeedibly smelly poos – I sing ” Smelly caaaaat, smelly caaaat” quite a lot these days!!)

Sorry I haven’t been on in a while! I was wondering, do rabbits have anal scent glands? I know dogs do, but while I was clipping Reese’s back nails I noticed that she had crusty stuff around her butt and she smelled kind of weird. Do you think she is having a hard time cleaning herself? Does this mean she might have a health problem (obesity, arthritis but she is almost 3, not very old yet). Also, how would I clean them if she can’t do it herself?

Lol, I think that is a bunny thing, Reese does that too! One time she stole a whole banana (she must lift weights) and I had to run around the room to catch her. Greedy little bun!

Yes, they certainly do They have a little slit/pocket either side of the genitals. Some rabbits never have problems with them, others will need to have them cleaned out from time to time, regardless of age or ability. It may not neccesarily be a health issue. You can clean them out with some warm water and a cotton bud. Be warned, the smell is potent.

Hubby and I were discussing last night the possibility of moving Dory into the dining room. It’s not ideal, since birds should be kept away from the kitchen, but with the layout of our house she’ll hardly be any closer to the stove and it will be better for my mental wellbeing I spend a lot of time in the lounge room when I’m tried and worn out from work, if Dory is super active in her cage and climbing around making noise, I find it really difficult to relax. So we’ll have to shift the dining table a little, and move a table from the hallway back into the lounge room, but I think it will work out well. That’s going to have to be another goal for my week off from work when I update the bunny condo. It will mean removing the seed skirt from her cage (since she’ll be by a different back door which is narrower) but it will be so much easier to take her outside when needed, rather than locking the bunnies up and packing away their entire playpen.

I won first place in my category and third over all (both are for showmanship) one of my birds wheat thin won reserve champion for the game bird class in breed. I was so nervous I cant believe I did so well. Yay!

Yumigami has finally perfected the worst new habit. The “steal and toss game.” Grab whatever bag/plate/indiscriminate object is on the bed near me, and toss it off the bed.

Watching that full bag of microwave popcorn scatter all over my room today was a harrowing moment.

I’m feeling a bit nervous and kinda stupid right now. I saw something I liked being advertised on facebook. I decided to buy it. I went to the site and placed my order. Everything looked legit and it said it would send me an email confirmation. Well… there hasn’t been an email confirmation yet. My card was charged (why didn’t I use Paypal?!). It was charged for the amount of the order. But, I’m still nervous now that I think about it. What if it was a scam? Should I call my bank? o_O I don’t want to stop payment on it if it is legit. I’m torn on what to do and freaking out a little bit.

BTW, that wasn’t an April Fool’s joke. I really am freaking out right now.

I’m not sure what to do LBJ10, some stores I have had it take a little while for a confirmation email to come through. Does the charge look like a dodgy company on your bank account? Usually the name will be somewhat related to the store, maybe even try googling the account the payment went to, or doing a google search for the company and the word “scam”.

We just discovered that the new season of Rick and Morty has been announced and they also released the pilot episode for it. So good, it had the best opening line to tie in with the previous season It’s a very wacky show, but I love it because it has such a long over-arching story line with so many intertwined plots. More than you would expect from a cartoon.

I was almost taken in by Amazon the other day I clicked on Amazon FR ( direct from Google, d’oh!) and I was going to “win the latest iPhone for 1eur” (“admin fees”) and I got all the way through to the end selection process, it was faaar too easy and alarm bells started ringing. I then checked and realised I wasn’t on Amazon although it was 90% convincing…..

Are you sure 1) you put in your correct email add 2) their conf is not in your spam ??
It may be that they take money on weekends and admin confirm on weekdays….?

Azerane – I looked up the web address last night after I realized I didn’t get a confirmation. Turns out it was like Vienna. I thought it was one website, but it wasn’t. It was a different site. When I looked it up, a site that checks whether a site is valid or not came up. It said the website could be unsafe. That’s why I was in such a panic last night. I’m still in a panic, but I can’t call my bank until Monday.

Vienna – See what I wrote to Azerane. It was supposed to be a certain website, turns out is wasn’t. I looked through all my email folders. Nothing. I did find an email to contact the seller with. Have not heard back yet. It IS Sunday. I realize that. And perhaps the site just automatically charges you and then a confirmation is sent once someone processes the order. I honestly don’t know. I hope that’s all it is. I’m so spooked now that I just feel I should call my bank tomorrow and stop payment on it. Then ask if they will send me a new card. I really don’t want to put a fraud alert on my card because then you have to go through a ton to trouble to get it removed later. If they would just send me a new card and I activate it, then the old one wouldn’t be good anymore. They did that one time when there was a security breach at a store I had purchased stuff at. o_O

BTW, the charge simply shows up on my account as the website I ordered from (the actual site, not what I thought it was).

LBJ , i suppose also if it is a one time ‘scam’ : “50 bucks, thanks” and then they get 50 bucks from 1000 people…. or if it is a “ahha got your card details prepare to be fleeced” scam. And there’s no way of knowing until it happens….

I dont know how the banking aystem works over yonder, but if the payment has gone through theres no way of stopping it (because its gone through) but it would need to be reported if it turns out to be a scam, so they can try and trace backwards.

It may be marked as ‘might be unsafe’ just because it isnt recognised. Doesn’t necessarily mean it isn’t. And one site could have transferred you on to another site for the product… if the payment has been debitted to the site name, then thats a good sign isnt it? (Rather than to a Prince of Congo trust in an untraceable bank account….)

Try today to contact someone again and go with your gut instinct.

Ellie: I’m glad Bas is going through with it! Also, that April Fool’s joke was just cruel… The hubby and I are big soccer fans. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to watch any of the qualifying matches so far. We have basic cable and don’t get any of the sports channels. It’s no wonder soccer isn’t becoming more popular here, since they make it difficult for people to watch it.

I know it’s horrible, but I refuse to fill out a donor card. I used to work in an ER and organ donor trauma patients were definitely eyed with more interest and um… worked on less thoroughly. Just my chilling experience.

But I do give blood as often as allowed by law And hair.

Here, being an organ donor means nothing if your family doesn’t agree. No one can have your organs unless your family is willing to sign off on it when you die. So you can register, but make sure your family understands your wishes.

No word back yet. The transaction is still pending. So I can’t actually dispute it until it hard posts to my account. In the meantime, I’ve deactivated my debit card and have a new one coming. This means I have to go inside the bank with my ID to get cash until the new card arrives. It will have a new number so no one will be able to use theaccount. They still have my name, address and email though…

That’s a tough one, it depends what you want to know not sure where you live but life in Aus is much like the US except the shops aren’t open for as long hours I’d call it relaxed but that also depends where you live. It’s probably best to ask specific questions otherwise I’m not sure how to describe it, hehe.

I had the most horrible thing happen this morning. Took a drink from my drink bottle that has a straw and felt something touch my tongue, quickly stopped drinking and looked into the straw and their was an earwig in it! I’m lucky it didn’t sting me on the tongue! So gross and i never want to use my drink bottle again, lol.

Ellie: I understand the process. Being an assistant nurse in the ER I understood the triage process and the difference between hopeless and critical incoming patients. What I’m talking about is that doctors would try less and not work as long on trauma patients with donor cards in their wallets vs patients in virtually identical states without cards. There were a couple of instances when I felt the need to speak up and question decisions because I was so disturbed by this phenomenon. After a year, I quit and switched from pre-med to pre-law.

Maybe that’s why it’s a good scam, because they send an invoice to make you believe it’s real…? Sorry, I know that’s not helpful or reassuring at all. Since you did get an invoice I probably would wait a little bit. Maybe contact the company just to set your mind at ease

If you have an invoice – surely there are tax détails on it (VAT registered number? or equivalent in USA?)
Anything at all to lead you in a certain direction?
You could do a search that way…
DNA traces on the envelope ? Fingerprints ? A postal mark identifying sender?

False invoices are common here. They copy real companies’ logos like phone companies, electricity companies etc and expect people to just pay the bill without thinking twice. And many do, of course. But that doesn’t seem to be at all what’s going on in your case.

You’re welcome. And no. It was during a ‘what’s this plant and can buns eat it’ convos, but meh… whatever. I wouldn’t recognize the app name even if you told me – I was just hoping someone else remembered better than I do No worries.

The invoice knows that I ordered. IDK, I guess I can wait awhile to see if the items show up. I can always dispute the charge later, I suppose. My card has been deactivated and they are sending a new one. So no worries there. I did flag the ad saying I didn’t know for sure or not, but the site seemed suspicious. You have no way of knowing if facebook will followup on it… but I did send in a report. At the very least, they should not have hyperlink text suggesting one thing and then the site you go to is not that.

Small poops can be a lot of things, including stress or dehydration.

Wow, I needed a break from work. I left for lunch so I could be alone. Too many people want me in too many places. o_O

When was the last time Breintje had molar length checked? Wick just underwent his first operation ever today; he had his back molars trimmed. There was a two-day span where his poops stayed small like your picture and his water consumption raised. His poop went back to normal and so did his water habits, but our vet suspected it was tooth problems. After looking and doing it today, my vet said it wasn’t bad, but it was enough that Wick had began to chew slightly differently to tolerate it, which resulted in a transitional period of small poops.

Also, I have him belly massages (see Howcare’s youtube videos) to pass any gas he may have had. I didn’t hear it, but apparently Wick did fart a bit following the initial massage, haha.

Hopefully everything is alright Ellie. Although I’m sure it probably is. Like I said, there are a million reasons for small poops.

As for work, I’m very overwhelmed right now. Too much stuff going on. It’s like I’m over stimulated or something. My head spins.

Ellie, Chewie’s poops are sometimes temporarily smaller or odd shaped after stress (like being abducted for nail trims, or being kissed by strange visitors). Just keep an eye on him and chances are you’ll see them return to normal.

I’m doing something crazy and looking at sewing patterns to make a stuffed bunny. I have NO craft skills or talents at all, but I dreamed that I made one and when I woke up, I thought why not try? I looked up and saved some PDFs of different sewing stitches. Also, I’ve got some small pieces of gorgeous silks and some beautiful mother of pearl buttons. Now I just need to find some good quality needles and pick up silk embroidery threads in fun colours. Oh! And more lambs wool for stuffing (I already have some left over from my ballet kit, but I need more).

That’s cool, Q8. Dream it and make it so. Or, make it sew, if you’re feeling punny.  Maybe tell yourself you have untapped craft talents and it will make the process easier.

@LBJ: Glad you could catch a break! (I’ve already checked him for dehydration, skin seems to be doing fine)

@Wick: Thanks for the reminder! He needs to go to the vet this month anyway for his vaccinations and a routine check-up. Last time they did see a couple of small barbs on his molars, but the vet said they were too small to give any trouble. Breintje does seem to be happy and hungry, but I know bunnies are masters of hiding discomfort.

Breintje may be saying differently!  I have read of even the most minimal points causing discomfort for some rabbits so it’s definitely worth getting those checked again. I sort of liken it to those times when you get the tiniest thing stuck between your teeth yet it feels like is a wedge of wood. Or when you bite inside of your cheek and it’s super annoying for a while. Things can feel amplified. 

FWIW, his poops look good for a nethie but I don’t know what his normal offerings look like…

Ellie, I agree that a bun can have problems even with very tiny spurs, because my Yohio did. His symptoms were “worse” than poop irregularities though. He didn’t want to eat most things, he seemed hungry and came running for food, but then he just took one bite and dropped the piece of food. He ate willow very willingly (as you know willow has salisylic acid, and maybe the painkilling properties was what attracted him.) It went on for 3 weeks with daily syringing of CC until my vet finally decided it might be his teeth after all. 5 days after the burr, he was back to his normal self again.

I’d not dash off to have a bun put under for a tooth burr when symptoms are “just” poop irregularities, because the reasons could still be many. But if he goes off his food, the situation is of course different. Is he still shedding a lot?

Id wondered about shedding/moulting also. Buns can seem a bit “off” pre-moult or during. And not really due to ingesting more fur.

Bam, I recall you saying Yohio would chew on more wood and random things when his teeth were due. I’d read bun will do this and also go for more inappropriate stuff like cardboard and paper. Which they can also do during moulting too… – gosh they don’t make it easy to determine what’s up, do they?

Yohio chewed cardboard like a madbunny the weeks leading up to his food reluctance.

Bam has had two (very short) episodes of not finishing all his vegs this molt. It’s been a very heavy molt this time, so much fur it’s almost unreal that a bun can shed so much fur and still not be bald. He did look terrible for a bit though when all the cheek hair had fallen off and he only had short, velvet-like fur except around his mouth and nose.

Big moults from all 4.mI’m living in a fur palace. My white tiles have been disguised by the cats.The air has sneeze worthy clouds of bun fur !!!!

Wick had his first molar operation yesterday, and it actually ended up being the reason behind his recent poor pee habits. I thought it was because he was starting to mature, but now that the operation is done he’s back to normal. I think I didn’t suspect the teeth as heavily because he was still eating as usual. Now Wick is back to being a maneuverable fur puddle, haha.

And after a rather happy, vet free period (apart from monthly tooth burring), Sampras is back on a whole range of stuff…tablets for tummy and antibiotics for his pasturella , and back to nebulising every day.

He’s actually pretty happy out- I’ve been giving him his tablets crushed in raspberry jam (Really not good for him but the only way he’ll take them) and he got pineapple as well today, and he’s getting all his favourite hay and greens.

Vienna- not really sure,seeing as there has been no real change in whether here (yet) My room stays pretty constant in temperature too, and I only open the window when they are bopping about to keep drafts off of him.
They are both moulting so I thought the extra sneezing might mean it waas just irritating his nose not a resurfacing of the infection (I still should redouble my hooverin efforts.)

Unless he’s picked up on my stress(Added to the fact I’ve barely been home the last 10 days) and it’s worried him …at which point I feel horrendously guilty.
Im just hoping I caught this one early enough that it doesn’t turn into a bad one like last time!

Dface, it seems like rabbits get some type of dip in their immune defense when they are molting. It’s like they are more sensitive during that period. Poor little Sampras, I hope he’ll get better soon. I remember how unbelievably cute he looked with his nebulizer, but I’m of course sorry he needs it.

I have to have an assignment done for 12 noon tomorrow, I’ve been working on my code and annotating it to show that I understand all of the steps(the code in this assignment is graded)
And I left the room and returned to find that the rabbits were using my keyboard as an ideal flop spot.

I have to de-bun all my code and fix what they’ve deleted.

Hey everyone! I haven’t been on in a really long time, and I haven’t read all of the chat oops!

The weather is really strange where I am, yesterday it was about 70+ degrees and today it was in the 30-40 degrees range (Fahrenheit.)  It’s supposed to snow tomorrow… yikes…

Cinnybun – some crazy weather… o.O

Important question: Will rabbits’ nails “die”? Licorice is very skittish so I can’t pick him up to trim nails, making it harder and less frequent I trim his nails thought I’m still pretty good about it. Today his nails on one front paw looked to have almost grey, odd tips? Obviously I cut them whilst playtime while I fed him, so they’re gone, and there was no quick, but what was it? Mushed droppings?

Wasn’t on any other paw, never happened before…

Possible BunnyFriends. If he’d broken it at some point and it wasn’t getting the blood supply.
The nails can become more hollow when they age and the inside part sort of crumbles but theres still normal keratin layer on the outside.
If a rabbit stands in their wet litter, digs at it alot, it make break down the nails a bit.

Does Licorice dig in dirt outside at all? Maybe it was mud?

@Wick, that’s good he had this result from his dental. That must have been such a tiny mouth for them to work on!  He’s so young to have dental work already. I hope it’s something you won’t have to continue doing.

Dface: My parents had warm spring weather yesterday (just lots of rain) and flew to Cuba just in time to miss today’s deep freeze and piles of snow. So you’re not alone in freaky weather land.

Ellie: Any chance you can embroyder a pretty sign that says “F–k off!” or “Mind your bloody business!” and hang it OUTside your terrace door? I feel for you, my friend. I spent a uni year in a split level basement flat I loved to call the fishbowl (complete with dividing walls made out of those thick glass bricks )

@jerseygirl – It actually made me a bit worried that he had to have it done at only 5mo. I may be paranoid as well, but yesterday he seemed to be a bit tense like before the dental work was done as compared to the day before yesterday where he pretty much melted into a flop wherever he was, so I’m hoping when I see him later today, it’s not the same tense observation of posture. My vet did say that they see ND’s most frequently for dental work, so maybe that, in conjunction with Wick being smaller than normal, leads his mouth to not really adjust well to larger molars? Complete shot in the dark though.

@Dface – I can totally imagine a diabolical rabbit scheming to keep you up by sabotaging your work, haha. Hopefully you were able to get some rest!!

Jersey – he digs so that may be it.

Dface and Ellie – my sympathy here, never personally dealt with but I can’t imagine…

Wick- He is pretty evil,he even flashes the little red gleam in his eyes.ALthough I know Yumi is the mastermind, she’s cute as a button and looks like a harmless teddy

Trying to get myself organised to go home -I hate traveling when he’s sick, he needs his nose cleaned a few times every hour, but he sulks in the carrier and wont let me. Plus with them both shedding it’s gonna be a hairer event than normal! but it’s unavoidable unfortunately. I am hoping that being home will help.

He normally loves being at home (because mam spoils him)

Ellie, I must say that sounds absolutely awful I hate not knowing when people are going to pop in or drop around. I need time and space in the privacy of my own home and certainly am not a big fan of nosy people. It’s not that I have anything to hide, I just don’t want people always looking in. I was really worried when we moved in here because our landlord actually lives in the house next door. However we have had no trouble, they leave us be but are friendly and say hi to us if we’re both out in the front yard etc. We’re very lucky in that regard and no one just drops in either.

My first day off has been super productive. It’s only midday and I’ve been to the market, cleaned out the fridge (and would rather not admit how many bottles with leftover pasta sauce I found), vacuumed some of the floors, did a load of washing, cleared off the dining table and moved Dory’s cage to the dining room. I figure if I can get most of the “work” done in the first half of the week, I’ll be able to relax more in the second half and over Easter

Hmm, sounds like a dorm room. LOL I’m sorry Ellie, I wouldn’t like neighbors being so close either. Talk about intimate living conditions.

Wick – Since he’s so young, there is a chance he will “grow out” of this and he won’t need dental work done too often as he gets older. I suppose it will be a wait and see situation.

I still think Ellie should consider my suggestions. OR! Make a little voodoo doll (as creepy as you can manage) and hang it somewhere on your terrace to deter the yammerer.

Chewie has discovered a fun new game: empty the food bowl, toss it just for fun, and eat pellets directly off the rug. Hmmm….He’s very determined.

There is a reason why mine dont have a food bowl !!!! LOL

Exciting news!! My husband had a job interview this morning, and now later today he’s been offered the job! So awesome, and it’s a full time position as well which is amazing. Woohoo!!

Wow, such exciting stuff happening the BB Land. I can’t say too much has been happening on my end. Pretty boring actually. LOL There were air quality warnings for today because smoke was supposed to be blown into the area by the wind. You could smell it a little outside, but it wasn’t too bad. It didn’t affect my asthma at all.

Back to work today. I had bad dreams and slept poorly last night – kept waking up and turning and tossing. Now I’m just so bummed out… Why can’t someone pay me a modest salary to stay home with Chewie all day every day? I don’t want to be around obnoxiously loud, uninterested in an education, germy children! I just want to write!!!

What’s the point in having litter trained bunnies when they blatantly pee outside the box on purpose, while you’re watching.

 Today I cleaned out their condo. I always clean the top first, so I’d removed the dirty fleece, sprayed and wiped with vinegar/water and then put the new fleece down and their toys etc. Within 60 seconds Apollo jumps up, pushes the toys out of the way and proceeds to pee in the corner. Not happy Mr Bunbun. Pee on fleece, the condo, the corflute, the timber, the floor AND the wall 

He must’ve figured out that his slave will be home all week full time.

I’m starting to think we watch Netflix too much… Just finished another show called “Crazyhead”. Loved this one too, it’s kind of like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with crude humor. I hope there will be a second season!

And here I was super stoked that in two years I’ll be able to check out Netflix too

Q8: No Netflix?? That’s too bad. It’s awesome, we love it! Why can’t you get it over there? Is it forbidden because there might be somebody gay in one of the movies or shows?

Ellie: Would your landlord allow you to put up some chicken wire since it wouldn’t be permanent? You could fence off your section of outdoor space, and if the neighbors or someone else asks about it, just tell them it’s for Breintje!

I was thinking it would force them to keep further away from your windows, but you’re right, other than that it wouldn’t provide more privacy. How about a bamboo fence? Also removable and offers more privacy. And the Breintje excuse would still work!

It got all the way up to 75 degrees F today! Reese had lots of fun in the sun. We even got the sprinkler out (not with the bun lol)! I made a rosewater angel food cake with a rosewater and raspberry whipped cream piped in flower shapes with a raspberry in the middle all around the sides, but it failed because the cake got stuck in the pan, and broke when it came out. That is why there is no pics! It still tasted good though.

Ellie: That does sound like a good solution for now. Will your aches and pains improve at all with the coming of warm weather!

Hazel: Something like that. lol

Think I’m done with excitement for my week off. Nearly got run over today, hubby and I were leaving a store and crossing at a crossing, the car was slowing down like they were waiting for us so we started crossing and then she sped up again. Turns out, she wasn’t even looking, I yelled out and smacked my hands down on the front of her car and she turned back to realise and managed to stop right before she knocked into me. Was not happy Fortunately no injuries, I was just really shaken up afterwards. Luckily her window was open so she heard me yell, otherwise she may not have heard or stopped in time. Fortunately my husband was on the other side of me and a little behind so he was alright.

Yikes.  Close call, Az! She was too busy looking for empty parking spaces? 

Who knows, there’s no parking spaces along that immediate strip so I’ve no idea what she was looking at, certainly not what she was supposed to be. At least the bunnies are able to relax me again Apollo is quickly learning that if he comes over while I’m at the desk, he gets pets

Thanks guys. Hazel, she did say sorry which I’m sure that she meant because she looked quite terrified herself, but to me it didn’t mean much when she almost just ran me over. It was tough to feel ok with an apology in that moment.

I’ve no idea where I’m going to assemble it, but I’ll figure that part out The most available space is inside the bunny pen I hope I’ve got enough cable ties, I bought a big pack ages ago when I bought the grids, but I use a lot of cable ties in Dory’s cage as well for securing perches etc, so hopefully I haven’t gone through too many.

Could you use floral wire to make the ears? (attach them to headband)  Then paper mache over the wire? 

I was thinking of using chicken wire in the shape of the ear, and I create kind of a sleeve of fluffy fabric to go over it to be the ear, along with a thin layer of stuffing stuff. How would I attach that to a headband?

I must say that I am loving having the desk next to the bunny condo with the playpen wrapped around it. I’ve been spending much more time with the bunnies as a result because using my laptop I’m almost always in their pen, Apollo often comes over for head rubs, Luna will sometimes come over. And since I’m frequently getting in and out of the playpen as I’m moving around I stop to pet them more often Apart from the occasional wafting cecal poop smell, it’s great lol

As much as I love my husband, I also really love sleep, and the past 3 nights I’m just not getting any because of his snoring Words cannot describe how awful it is. Usually his snoring is annoying but I can deal with it, the past few nights however it’s a nightmare. I’ve migrated to the couch tonight in hopes of some sleep, but now I have disturbed Dory and she’s constantly fluffing about and must be itchy cause she keeps shifting her feathers. It’s not a loud noise, but boy is it annoying right now, lol. Sooooo tired.

My mum sleeps in my old room now so she can get a full nights sleep and she says we would be amazed if we knew how many of her same age friends slept in separate rooms too, just to sleep well.

Snoring is a biiig problem for looooots of people. Lots of things to try first though. Nasal plasters. Stress. Weight. Etc…

Snoring is crazy annoying. Try nose plasters first, it’s not pricey and it might help. If he thinks it’s silly, inform him that he isn’t getting good quality sleep if he snores a lot. Snoring can really affect the snorer’s overall health.

….. especially if the other half starts whacking said snorer over head with pillow !!! LOL !!

I’ve just checked out the weather for next week and it’s going back down to ZERO in the morning, warming up to a “massive” 10.
Last weekend it was 25!!
WHAT is going on?!!!!!!

He snores a lot because of his asthma, allergies and as a result blocked up sinuses. I’m sure the bunnies and all their hay don’t help I don’t know what it is about the past few days though, he said he didn’t feel congested at all. And I couldn’t whack him with a pillow because he needed the sleep from work. I slept pretty terribly on the couch, the bunnies decided when I’d had enough time to sleep and starting jumping around and throwing their plastic keys back and forth.

Vienna, that sounds awful, early this week we had low overnight temps of about 9 and that was cold enough for me I hate winter.

My mom and dad have the same snoring/sleeping habits issue so their rooms are directly across the hall from each other. Keeps the tired grumpies at bay LOL

Yikes Vienna– that weather sounds awful same here a few weeks ago, weather has been crazy!!

Ellie: Glad to hear he’s getting over his fear. How’s he doing wit his root canals? I’ve had one and it really wasn’t bad. They gave me a prescription for pain meds but I didn’t even have to use them.

Ellie have you heard of the new medical sauna craze that’s going on for people with muscle and arthritis problems. A client of mine fell off his horse years ago and broke his back and has real trouble with his back ever since. He started this sauna treatment (certain temp for certain length of time etc) which is, I think, one seance per week and he’s never had to take painkillers since. He absolutely lives by it and has even had a small sauna installed into his own home now.
I dont know how it works and realise its not the same as you, but might be worth a try…..?

Had to go off to vets with Potamus this afternoon. . She’s not super ill but she’s not right either. Why do these things happen on weekends? And holiday weekends?!
We went to a different clinic as the local ones all shut early on Saturdays. I was happy with the consult she had though, even though we had to travel a bit further.

She thinks she’s not uncomfortable but we don’t know why she’s off her food a bit. She had motility med injection and I got oral tablets of it to take home.
She just didn’t go for her pellets earlier today and I haven’t seen her eat hay. She was eating a bit of seagrass matt and some willow leaves. Thats it. She also peed outside the box a couple times.
Im not sure whats up but decided to get her seen before Sun/Mon when it would be out-of-hours care.

Thank you!  Actually, she isn’t moulting much. She could ingest Gooseys fur along with her own though.

ok this i a really strange message but today i found out that my rabbits love country music when i turned on the music the rabbit’s eyes lit up and they started bobbing their heads (sooooo cute) it was also the rabbits first time outside.

Today she is not eating anything at all so Im starting critical care. Also gave pain med and some of the motility med the vet sent us home with.

Ellie: I’m surprised they don’t just dance naked with the odd animal skin thrown on and then have a massive orgy… I mean seriously… I love the old pagan traditions as much as the next pyro, but smoking good people into their homes is silly.

I was trying to go to sleep last night when the local fox decided to start screaming. He was at it for awhile so I went outside in my pjs to yell at him and shoo him away. o_O

My car died tooday  I was planning on getting a new one but not for another few months. I can either try get a loan and buy a new one ASAP or shell out 700 to fix it and then get a new one later like I planned. Either way I am car-less and very upset. Luckily my friend has agreed to loan me his car tomorrow so I can at least bring Tony to the vet- his spaying is tomorrow- but after that, I’m SOL. Waaaaah

Tony’s Mum: I’m sorry. It’s really frustrating to be without a car. Many, many safe neuter-vibes for (((((Tony))))) tomorrow.

He was screaming for awhile. LOL I think he’s a he though. He has been hanging out in the park near our house for a couple of years now. I have never seen a mate for him. The screaming was likely him staking his territory. I mean, they can scream like that for a lot of reasons, but when I went out there to yell at him there didn’t appear to be anything wrong with him. He simply stared at me and then casually walked underneath the neighbors camper. Then he started screaming again… Stupid fox.

Really though, I don’t want anything bad to happen to him. He has been in the park for a couple of years and I’ve always enjoyed seeing him there. He often runs around at dusk.

Oh no, Tony’s mom. I’m sorry. I know that feeling though. You know you needed a new car, but you weren’t ready yet.

TM: That is sucky… I’d opt for the loan simply because you can put the 700 towards a down payment instead of into a car you know you won’t be driving for much longer. But safe snipping for (((Tony))) tomorrow and nose rubs from us.

He sure gave me a stare! LOL

What is this feeling of physical exhaustion? I just had my first day back at work after 10 days off. 9 hours of physical exertion later and I’m completely done in.

I did find a nice little roadside bargain though. One of the neighbours had some little cupboard shelf things out on the roadside, I think maybe they’re technically bedside tables, but they’re super low. I don’t know where I’m going to put them (one is missing legs but can just sit on top of the other) but extra storage is always handy, lol.

I was eyeing up a kitchen cupboard door thrown out today 50yards from home, not for the door but for the hinges on them…. Dad was on one shoulder saying “go back and get a screwdriver” and Mum on the other saying “noooooo, don’t you dare” !!!!! Lololol.
(I was in the middle, already late for work!)

I love roadside bargains Come to think of it, both Bam and Yohio were roadside bargains, sort of.

I’ve started putting a portion of Bam’s night snack in the bedroom next to the bed because I love it when he comes running (he always runs, at full speed) and starts munching in the middle of the night. It’s the most comforting sound!

My beloved car was scrapped today and I’m driving a $*&!ty rental until I get a new car sorted. BUT on the plus side, Tony did great at the vet’s, and is home now looking very grumpy in his cone. He ate a bit of apple in the vets, and I managed to get him to have some dill and some water, plus he’s started moving around a little now. I think he’s sobering up- he seemed pretty drunk for the first couple of hours! He checked out everything he owned was still in the house, settled on his blanket for a bit, and is now exploring behind the couch. I’ve had to move all the furniture because the cone makes it hard for him to fit into some of his usual spots, but he seems okay for now. He has a checkup on Friday, and some painkillers and antibiotics to take every day too.

I just found out that Reese has pretty bad sore hocks. I’m pretty sure it is because of her running off of her mats onto the hard wood floor! Are there any effective ways of treating this?

I haven’t posted in the chit-chat in a while :/

I havent seen her on her regular litterbox since Friday. Im starting to wonder if she has an aversion to it or something spooked her and that’s what brought all this on. But you would think she would devour the hay in alternative spots Ive offered it – but that’s not happening.

I think I would have a hard time having my car scrapped too. It’s done well by me.

Good to hear Tony is doing well!  I just saw the pic of him with the head cone, poor bunneh.  Mine never had a cone on so I didn’t have to commiserate with them.

I wiped a tear on my way out of the vets as I was 250 euros lighter …..

She runs on big foam puzzle-piece shaped mats, I don’t know what they are called though. She also has big fleece blankets laid on the floor for her to run on too. She also likes to run under the bed, which is the only place that is not covered and is just plain wood floor. I will get a picture of her poor little thumpers soon

Those mats shouldn’t be a problem. I responded in thread where the photo is. It could just be a bit callused and some of the dry skin is shedding off. Calluses are necessary a bad thing as it protects almost paw pads do on cats and dogs. When there are sores though, obviously things would be a bit tender. How does she react to you touching those spots?

Does the yellow crusty area seem like dried skin or are you worried it’s an abscess?

I wouldn’t say heartily but she’s not struggling overly with them either. It’s just she’s intermittant when she’ll take them. And her appetite just doesn’t seem right.  She did eat some lettuce and carrot tops late last night. Went for them as soon as I put them down, and she’s not a great fan of greens normally. 

A shame the chipping cost so much, especially since you adopted. Be nice if you got a discount for taking on cats in need.  So they’re are on the chip record as Strainer and Drainer  or that’s just the names on the vet file?  Lol.

Well, I had Potamus seen again today and the vets not entirely sure what the problem is either. She checked teeth with otoscope and said can see a few small points but no ulceration of tissue nearby. Gut sounds and feels normal. The only thing was Potamus reacted a little when she felt the bladder but not a great deal. So she said we’ll do a round of baytril just incase there is bladder infection and see if makes a difference to her behaviour. She’s not really convinced it is that, however. So I guess we’ll wait and see.
Potamus did pee on a towel today in the pen I have put her in to monitor food intake. I think she has mostly peed underneath the playhouse they have rather then use a box. I need to move that and clean up the mess.
I couldn’t get in to see the vet around the corner, so I went to the one I used to take Jersey to. It was good to touch base with her again.

Okay, room cleaned, wasn’t too much pee on floor after all… I also took down sheet I have on divider fence that is between the two bunny pairs litter boxes. Covered it it clear plastic like rest of fence. Returned P&G to the room… And for the first time P has willingly gone to litter box and started eating hay.

Re Zou peeing outside of their box – although there are still times (of which I can’t quite work out why) I think the main reason Zou peed outside of litterbox is that there wasn’t enough hay in it… wasn’t too impressed about having her bum over filter holes maybe (lol)
There is quite the pile of poos in the morning (having cleaned out just before I turn in!!!) so maybe the thicker layer of hay makes her feel better rather than standing on the poos….?

So I bought a big pack of dirt cheap hay for this reason – and guess what – Henry munches away at it !!
I buy them expensive choice hay which they don’t seem to like too much… and he happily chomps away at this cheap stuff !!! D’oH !!
Just goes to show !!

TM: I’m sorry about your car. Must be that time of the year, mine just broke down too. You don’t think Tony had something to do with it, in an attempt to get out of his neuter?

jersey: How frustrating that the vet doesn’t know what’s going on either. But yay for Potamus eating hay!! Sending lots of eating vibes!

Reesebun: Poor Reese. Those mats should be good for her feet, I guess some bunnies are just more prone to develop sore hocks than others.

Ellie: Sorry you had a tough time at the hospital. I hope the MRI scan will clear things up and you won’t have to wait too long for an appointment.

Vienna: Oscar won’t use the litter box either unless there’s a nice cushy layer of hay on top of the litter. I usually use the small pieces of hay from the bottom of the bag to cover his litter with, since that stuff is no good for putting into the hay rack anyway.

I’m loving having a desk to use my laptop inside the bunny playpen. Apollo quickly learned to come up for pats and boop my leg if I didn’t notice him, but now Luna is doing it too which just melts my heart It’s going to put a kink in my back though, constantly leaning down to pet them when they come over, lol.

Az, won’t they settle for foot pets? Yohio demanded I pet him with my foot all the time when I was sitting at my desk. I had no choice, he just shoved his little head under my foot, if I didn’t comply he’d dig at my ankle until I gave in

Ellie, I hope the MRI goes well. At least it’s not painful.

@TM, Ugh!  I’m cringing in sympathy. I hate car yards. I bought my 1st car in a private sale in the end. 

Well, Mishy Moosh hopped down for her pellets today. : ) Im relieved but also slightly annoyed that I may have blown $200 on a non medical issue. But what can you do?!!
Then I come home last night to find TimTim not wanting greens, posturing funny and throwing himself on his side a few times to try relieve some discomfort, Im guessing. Couldn’t believe it. These buns doing my head in. He had a couple doses of simethicone.
He’s good this morning. : )

While i certainly understand the money sentiment, when it comes to their health i don’t think it’s ever a waste

I have learned however that me catching the bus home from work is dangerous. Because i have to walk through the mall to get to the bus stop i dropped in at two second hand stores and a pet store and may have bought too many things for the pets. At least I’m restricted by how much i can carry home , lol.

Az; I feel your pain! The day I discovered my local TK Maxx had a pet section, I was doomed! 

Be warned; incoming rants:

Tony went for a checkup this morning and the vet totally disagreed with me about taking off the cone

She inspected his stitches and noticed that one looked like it had been chewed and was a little bit cut, so she really doesn’t want him out of the cone again. I really hate him being in it, but I hate the idea of him getting hurt even more so I agreed, BUT we came to a compromise and he’s in a slightly smaller cone now.

He seems a bit happier, and seems to have eaten his cecotropes today (which he couldn’t reach before), although there wasn’t as much poop on the floor today as there has been so I’m keeping a close eye on him. He’s chomping away on pellets right now but he isn’t making much of a dent in his veg and seems to be ignoring the hay entirely. I don’t know if that’s because he couldn’t reach the pellets for the last few days, or just because they’re tastier but I’m letting him eat unlimited anything he likes while he recovers.

I’m so stressed out this week, between bunny-care and car stuff I feel like I could cry But I have found a nice car I like, so I’m hoping the mechanics give it the thumbs up and I can get it for a good price, because driving a rental is stressing me out no end and I HATE car shopping. I’ll find out more on Monday.

Ugh, what a horrible, horrible week this has been! Relaxing now with a glass of wine and some TV. I’d love some Tony snuggles but he’s still pretty grumpy at me for force-feeding him medicine and dragging him to the vets lol

grrrr i am sooooo mad right now

warning rant ahead

ok so i found out that i broke my ankle. no big deal, i got it casted with an actual cast instead of a walking boot. i was told to try and walk on the cast as much as possible use crutches if necessary. ok fine. that happened on Monday. after i got it casted it like instantly felt better. today my foot is super swelled shooting pain up to my KNEE also my toes were blue. i got an appointment to see a doctor at a hospital and all they say is “its too tight” and cut the cast so that just the hard part was cut, let it sit , and then just put another loose layer of hard material on and said no weight bearing on it. and they said they weren’t worried about my knee. home now, can barely move my toes, like no pain reliever works on me, my ankle and knee hurt, have my leg elevated and nothing is helping. even elevating my leg isn’t helping with pain or swelling (just blueness). i just wish that the doctors could help me. or would do something. i am SO frustrated, i haven’t been able to do anything except for feeding the rabbits and holding them. my mom finally helped me clean their cage after about 2 weeks I feel sooooo bad

Ugh. This is such garbage! I just wrote literally two paragraphs in reply to you guys, and the damn thing ate my post. Ever since the so called site update I keep getting ‘gateway timeout’ messages and server error messages that eat posts or refuse to load threads. It’s seriously taking all the fun out of posting.

TM: I was badically happy for you and keeping my fingers crossed for the car being checked.

BM: I badically said:
– you saw an idiot doctor
– if knee is swollen, you sprained it (pulled ligaments); if not, you strained it – all because when ankle is immobilized and an idiot says walk on it, your body is forced to put unnatural strain on the next joint up: your knee; elevate it and ice it and ibuprofen
– if your toes are not normal colour and warm, cast still too tight; if they are, cast has a spur or not padded enough and causing contact point to radiate pain throughout joint so should be removed and new one done by a good casting tech

Q8, you sound a bit blocked up in the nose.
Are you able to “back space” to retrieve what you wrote? That sometimes works. However, on ipad it might not.
I wonder if you’re posting when BB peeps are on doing some maintanance work? You might have to report in Tech section if you keep having issues. In the meantime, try copy your post before submitting it, just in case? A pain, I know.. There hasn’t actually been a site update yet.

Blue Moon, sorry to hear it! Q8’s advice sounds like it’s on the money. I hope you can get some proper relief soon.

BM: That sounds awful Can you get to another doctor and get a second opinion? Q8 definitely has a point there about your knee.

Blue Moon, Q8 is correct,  you should NOT walk on a broken ankle/foot!!!! If you’ve just sprained/strained your ankle you should walk on it, but then you wouldn’t have a cast so the joint wouldn’t be immobilized. With an immobilized break you need to rest and hop on crutches for 7-8 weeks. You should get x-rayed again before that time is up.  

A broken ankle shouldn’t hurt after the first couple of days unless you put pressure on it.Don’t put pressure on it. I broke my fibula a couple of years ago, I was lucky to get the boot, not a cast. My mother is a physiotherapist. I followed her orders, no pressure on the foot for 7-8 weeks. Then I just kept taping the ankle for a couple of weeks. I also got a work out program, but that’s nothing you should even try until the bone has healed. 

the thing about the second opinion i have been to 4 freaking doctors and the first one said that it was just sprained, still hurting two weeks later, went to an orthopedist, they did nothing and then i went to get a second opinion from another ortho they casted it, and then yesterday. (i also thought it was really strange that the ortho that casted my ankle told me to walk on it). i am about ready to just buy the stuff to make a cast off of amazon.com and then make it so it is comfortable (i won’t do that) thank you for the advice everyone

A cast set too tight can be potentially more dangerous that the fracture itself ! So follow your gut feeling and if it is hurting, go and get checked.

You don’t mention which country you are in – but i know some countries don’t quite have the same ‘treatment’ as others.

Some theories now are that you should walk and move with immobilized fractured bones to keep the blood circulating and the musclefrom wasting away – thereby helping recovery time.
My friend (25yo ?) broke his elbow a little while (a misplaced backwards jump and subsequent fall on to it (ouch!) during a badminton tournament).
He was back playing after 3 weeks and even having now diag after MRI a double oedema and luxated something, he is still advised to play !!!!
I just hope he doesn’t fall again before its healed.

But hey – don’t have to be a doctor to know if you have a broken ankle to NOT walk on it….

Wow Blue Moon, I don’t know anyone who would suggest walking on it. I mean, at least not right away. The blue toes scares me.

I can’t stop yawning. I’m so worn out from today. I had to attend an Earth Day event. It was supposed to be cold and cloudy, so I was like “I don’t need a tent”. Well, it was sunny outside today and I got a little pink on my face. It was still only in the upper 50s though! I was going to attend the march, but since I had to work the event right before it I didn’t think it was a good idea to represent the city government and then go protest. o_O I really did want to go, I just didn’t know how it would look. I felt weird about it and then my anxiety took over. So I ended up just packing everything up from the event and going home.

Timbu has been losing his guard hairs this week and the remaining fur feels sooo soffft! Like a rex. I often think his body shape is rather mini rex-like so now I can really pretend.

Or maybe there’s some Rex in him??

I think I found a car! I can’t wait to have all this sorted, it’s been so stressful. I’m so excited!

Can’t get Dory back in her cage. Problematic seeing that I needed to clean her cage tray (which I can only do once she’s back in it as I have to open the back door) and we need to go out to get dinner. Food as a lure has not worked.

Well. Food in a restaurant may. Invite her along too !!!

I went to look at a dog today at a nearby breeder’s.

That wonderful moment when you’re done work, only to realise your house key is well… in the house. Off on the bus to hubby’s work I go. I could steal the car and pick him up from work later, but I might be motivated and do the grocery shopping while he’s finishing work.

ETA: She won’t be getting a dog after all.

My mother’s husband doesn’t want a dog. He’s ok with her having a dog, but he made it clear yesterday that he won’t look after it even for an afternoon if she has to be somewhere she can’t bring the dog. It upsets me. I can dogsit a dog but I live 60 km away, so it’s not practical.

Vaccines aren’t much fun, but I least vets here have added filavac to their stock. When Bam had his myxo-RHD shot a copole of weeks ago he started sneezing not long after, so I worry about this vaccination. The sneezing has stopped, but it all happened during Easter and no vet wanted to see him because he wasn’t an emergency.

I agree, getting vaccines is nowhere near as fun as a new dog! I can’t believe someone would be unwilling to look after a dog even for an afternoon. It’s not like they need to be watched every moment.

Oh no. But would hubby cave in when said-dog is lovely and gorgeous and cute. Or will he stick to his guns?….
60kms is ok for a holiday period.
