        Hello!

So I have two neutered 1yr old male rabbits. One has a huge cage on the ground of the other’s room and he doesn’t really mind sharing the space- he barely even notices his presence. As for the one in the cage, whenever the other bunny is right close to his cage, he hops over and tries sniffing him and (I think) licking him. They are out for about 6 hours a day (the caged one in the room, the room one elsewhere) and when he is out of the cage and has the whole room to himself, he instantly runs over to other bunny’s food and eats eats eats!!  I’ve been trying to slowly introduce them to each other through a stuffed rabbit that they both groom. I’m SUPER nervous to bond two male rabbits especially as a first time rabbit owner.

        Any advice for bonding males?
Also do they think its a real rabbit and smell the other bunny on it?

I have never bonded male rabbits, but I have bonded 5 pairs of male/female rabbits over the years. A method that works well for me is to use an x-pen. You can place it in a neutral space, or if you don’t have a neutral space, place a sheet or some large towels down on the floor first to mask any smells that might be in the carpet or rugs or floor. The x-pen will be neutral territory anyway if neither one has used it. My husband and I get in with the bunnies, to stop any fighting (some scuffling is normal) or to stop any excessive humping, and just to be there to pet the bunnies, if they like being petted. We start with a few minutes, then increase the time in the pen together a little bit every day.

There are several people here who have bonded male rabbits, so maybe they would have some better advice.
