I’m getting a baby bunny soon and I could only find the Kaytee Timothy Complete Rabbit Food near my place. Is it ok if I feed the bunny this and timothy hay or should I use alfalfa hay instead? I know that a lot of people say that oxbow is good, but if I can’t find oxbow near me, can I just feed it the Kaytee one?

I don’t know that specific food but kaytee brand usually has coloured bits and rubbish in it does your bag look like that? If so it isn’t a good pellet to feed… they will like it for the taste but it’s like feeding a child lollies instead of food … oxbow is great , or burgess
They don’t need alfalfa hay as such – but if you can get it it is best for baby bunnies first 6months of life. Timothy is still great though – in my country we don’t have either so I just have meadow hay available and mine do great but I would use alfalfa then Timothy if I could.
The main thing with hay is the amount – make sure they have unlimited hay and pellets when they are young and once 6months old limit the pellets and always still have unlimited hay- 90% of their diet needs to be hay

If nothing else is available, Kaytee Timothy Complete is OK. It’s a Timothy-based pellet with no added stuff. If I remember correctly, the nutritional analysis is a little outside the recommendations, but it isn’t really bad.

Baby bunnies do not absolutely need alfalfa, but it’s definitely beneficial for a growing bun.

Agree with Oakley’s Mama and LBJ.

When you go to det your new rabbit, if it’s already on a pellet food, try buy some of that. Then you can mix the Katyee timothy pellets with that and then slowly transition him onto just the Kaytee brand.
