I’m wondering if anyone else has a young bun who sneezes after drinking out of a water bowl, or has experienced this? I switched bugs from a bottle to a water dish the day I got her, because I know that most buns prefer it and can drink more easily that way. I would say that she sneezes 1/3 times I see her drink, and usually its 3-6 sneezes. I think it’s just because she gets water up her nose, and hasn’t mastered drinking from a dish yet. I told my vet this, and she said that if she starts sneezing when shes not drinking water/after she drinks, to let her know. Last night, I was in my room and I heard her sneeze for what seemed like longer than usual. I just don’t want to label it as harmless water up her nose/clumsiness is it could be something worse. What do you guys think ?

I would switch her back to a water bottle and see if that helps. If not, then its not a water issue, but a breathing or mucus issue

Bunnies sneeze sometimes if there is dust in the air, Olly sneezes a lot when he drinks water, when he eats and when he is in his bed or litter tray, like Mikey says you could give your bunny a bottle again, if there is no difference then it could be an allergy to something like dust in hay or sawdust or even blankets that have been washed in a certain washing powder or liquid, (Baby laundry soaps are best.) if bunny sneezes, don’t panic, see how you get on with a bottle and if there is no change see a vet

My bunny sneezes when he’s eating his pellets, I don’t know why, but it’s not excessive. Maybe like CA said it’s dust.
It’s a good thing that sneezing isn’t linked to some horrendous problems, but hopefully Bugs will figure out how to drink from a bowl soon, so we can stop worrying.
If she is sticking her head in the bowl, her nose would be wet too.

she is probably just not used to drinking out of a dish try putting both a dish and bottle in for her and try not putting as much water in the water bottle and decreasing by the day so your bun will get used to drinking from a dish eventually you may want to try taking out the water bottle entirely but only when she isn’t sneezing any more.
