        Hi all,

I’ve just signed up and have been reading on here for a couple of weeks since my partner came home with an 8 week old British Giant, “Nugget”, a few weeks ago. We’ve never had a pet bunny until now so I’m keen to learn as much as I can to ensure he has a great life.

In the last two days I’ve noticed him sitting like this a couple of times. Is this normal? He seems otherwise healthy. He hops around the house lots when we let him out for exercise and can move very quickly without any apparent problems. I’m only slightly concerned about the strange posture as I can’t find a single photo on Google images of another bunny sitting in this way.

Both times I’ve seen him like this it was the right leg:

        Appreciate any input.

        Thanks,
        Jeremy

Hi and welcome to Binky Bunny!

I’ve seen bunnies extend a leg like that when they were getting ready to clean it or had been cleaning it. If he is hopping normally and not favoring that leg when he moves, he’s probably fine. I assume that he is eating well and making good droppings. If you notice any other problem with his hopping or movement, you should get him checked out, but this is likely a normal posture.

          He sure is cute!

Hi! Nugget is such a cutie. As tobyluv said, if he is moving around normally then I’m sure he is fine. Luna does the same thing before/after grooming.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Shortly after posting this, I did see him cleaning that leg in a similar stance so I guess each of the other times I saw him sitting like this he had perhaps just finished cleaning his leg and just felt like chilling out in that position for a bit longer

You’ve put my mind at ease.

And yes, I spoke to his vet about food and we’re keeping him on quite a strict diet of mainly hay & his droppings are looking as they should

Thanks to all members on this forum for input on other topics too. It’s been a great help!
