A few days ago we got a new family member – around 3 months old bun. He has a lot of long fur and he already weighs a bit over 1 kg so I assume he will be a big one.
So my question is how much pellets should we give him daily? He has pellets for young bunnies (the brand is called “bunny” and its German).
I don’t want to give him unlimited pellets because he likes them too much and I think he would not be eating hay anymore… Also how should I encourage him to eat more hay? I think he is used to eating more pellets than hay.
        Thanks for help.

You could weigh or work out in cup measure how much you are currently putting out for him. Then next day, weigh what is left and deduct that from the 1st weight. That will tell you how much he is consuming in a day. Then maybe only offer that portion each day? Even split the amount and give in 2 feedings? So there is not pellets left once he finishes a portion and hopefully he’ll gravitate to the hay.

My rabbits seem to eat the most hay overnight, so you could experiment with taking away pellets overnight or only leaving a limited amount. He is eating some hay?
