  So I will first say I didn’t know until recently you shouldn’t house buns and cavys together and I just purchased a Cavy and a bun from a pet shop, in doing so the bum and Cavy were housed together in the pet shop so I have been doing that I just recently separated them but they seemed to be so bonded and such and my Cavy is grumpy I know that this page is for buns but for the age would it hurt housing them in a large cage together because of the bond that seems to be present or avoid it all together and handle the mood swings? Any help would be great been looking all over for some answers, Thank you in advance

  By cavy do you mean guinea pig? I would separate them – buns and pigs have different dietary requirements for a start, and a full grown bun could seriously hurt a guinea pig by kicking (unintentional or not) Plus I’m pretty sure buns carry something that could be fatal to guinea pigs (anyone know if that’s right?) Not to mention they won’t be able to communicate with one another, it’s like being put in a room with someone that only speaks a different language. Both bunnies and pigs need a friend tho, so I would start thinking about getting them a partner each.

  Well we bought two Guineas and two buns the buns are both 8 weeks and still need to be fixed before I put them anywhere near each other and the one guniea had to be separated from his brother at the pet shop because they were fighting I don’t know if that would happen here but my one guniea does seem to Be rather moody

  I am sure there is some bacteria one has that is fatal to the other potentially, I cant remember which way round it is though but I definitely remember being told about it. As Sarah said they have totally different diet requirements and different ways of communicating so its not really safe to house them together.
