I am trying to make an Emergency Kit and read that it is always good to have a bottle of infant gas drops handy but all the ones I am looking at seem to have sucrolose or sorbitol in the ingredients are these safe?

The brand that I use is Mylicon and it does contain sorbitol. It’s the next to last ingredient on the inactive ingredient list, so there is probably very little of it in the product. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol naturally found in fruits.

I consider sucralose to be to be an artificial sweetener, modified by a lot of chemicals, and I don’t use it myself.

Ok thanks! I just wanted to make sure I was ordering the right thing!

It’s not something you’d be giving all the time. Sorbitol is used in medications to make a syrup. Like in oral metacam.

ETA: You can use the contents of adult gel capsules (Like Gas-x) but it’s a bit tricker to work out the amount to give. But these would have less of the other inactive ingredients.

Very true. I just wanted to make sure I was getting the right thing. I always read horror stories about people accidentally feeding their dogs foods with artificial sweeteners and what it can do to them so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting the wrong thing or something that would hurt my bunnies.
