  Alright so I got Bilbo home about an hour ago. He’s still a little out of it. He’s very angry. He also keeps licking down by his manhood, but there is glue and sutures. I can’t tell if he’s eating cecal pellets or grooming or trying to chew his wound up. I keep tapping his kennel when he does it. They didn’t give me an e-collar and are closed now. Not to mention it is about a 40 minute drive. Any tips as to how I get him to stop? Again I’m not sure if he’s grooming/eating/chewing. Mostly he has just been sitting in his litter box with a glazed look in his eyes. He was so mad that he wouldn’t even touch a piece of dehydrated banana. He hasn’t eaten a whole lot but has been pooping. I don’t know how much hay he ate at the vet office. Or if he ate at all. He munched a little on his pellets. They sent me home with liquid metacam syringes but he doesn’t get those till tomorrow. I’ll need tips for how to open his mouth. We didn’t cover rabbit restraints last semester. He just laid down so I’m hoping he sleeps for a bit so I don’t have to keep tapping his box. Im keeping an eye out to see if he eats/poops/drinks. I’m not expecting him to eat much, but I know it can be dangerous if he doesn’t. I asked his vet about Panacur and how often I should give it. She told me not to give it unless I saw anything weird in his poop or if his poop took an odd form. E.C isn’t a worm is it? I thought it was a fungus or protozoa? She said the 6 month deworm would only cover a month and that if I did it that it needed to be done monthly. Will the dosage for a 4 lb dog effect him?

  Aw {{{Bilbo}}}. He may have been cleaning of any foreign smell at the site and self soothing. Are the sutures the type that will need to be removed?
  It normal for him to be a bit spaced out. The effects of the anaesthetic probably haven’t fully worn of. Make sure his water is nearby. Keeping hydrated is important. For giving the metacam, you just pop the tip of the syringe in the side of the mouth. Behind front teeth but in front of molars. There is quite a gap there. I normally hold my hand over their head, index finger on one side of nose, 3rd finger on other, Then move cheek & lip back with index finger and pop syringe in. I usually leave them on the floor to do this but you could carry them to a counter top fitst if it’s easier.
  
  Yes, EC is classified as microsporidia, so in fungal family. Panacur is called a dewormer though and is used to treat various intestinal worms. And EC as you know.
  
  Were you asking the vet specifically about EC or just Panacur? Perhaps her advice was just for general worming for anything picked up out doors?

  He seems much more aware this morning. The sutures will not have to be removed also. She said they’d dissolve. He ate his vegetables that he didn’t touch last night. The metacam turned out to be pretty easy. Im not sure if it tastes good or what, but he took the syringe in his mouth and acted like he was suckling off of it.
  
  I asked her specifically about EC and she said Panacur was for deworming. I asked about fungal and she said the only thing that gets rid of fungal is an antifungal medication, not Panacur.

  My three buns really enjoy metacam, too. Glad your boy is doing better today Is he still licking the area, today? If he is, I would watch it to make sure he doesnt irritate it too much so it doesnt cause an infection

  He’s not messing with his wound today that I’ve seen, but he hasn’t really touched his food much. I noticed he had very small poops in his litter box. He was producing normal sized ones yesterday evening. Is it just because he didn’t eat a lot? I’ve been getting him to eat a little bit of hay, by forcing it in his mouth, but if it comes down to it I’ll just give him the goodies from his pellets if it gets him to eat. They have dehydrated vegetables and fruit in them as well as these little star shaped things he likes. Not sure what is in them. I’m going to the store to get him more romaine since he seems to only really want vegetables.

  Aha! Caught him eating hay >.> Hopefully he keeps it up. I haven’t noticed too much litter box activity so I’ll be checking on to make sure things start going back to normal. Better not be anymore itty bitty deformed poops

  His poops seem to have taken back their round form. They aren’t deformed and only a few are small now. They’re mostly back to normal. In my take home instructions it said to put a warm wet rag on his surgical site, I noticed his boys were filled up? Are they supposed to be filled up? They aren’t huge or anything and the stitches are fine. I was just wondering. He’s back to eating his hay, well kind of. He has eaten a little bit but is eating his pellets and vegetables.

  The poop may be combo of his lower appetite, meds coming through his system and his not moving around as much. It’s good he’s starting to eat more hay.
  
  The sacs can fill up with fluid sometimes. Do they look a health pink? Putting a warm compress on the area can be comforting.
  
  Inspect the incision morning and evening. After a neuter, the scrotum may swell with fluids. Warm compresses will help, but it is nothing to be overly concerned about. With any sign of infection, take the rabbit to the veterinarian immediatelyhttp://rabbit.org/faq-spaying-and-neutering/ .

  Yup they’re pink. I’ll keep doing the compressions to see if it helps. He didn’t seem to mind it too much. He’s been in a pretty decent mood. He’s been a bit more nibbly than normal. He’s actually been taking my finger tips in his mouth and nibbling on them. Weirdo.
