I let Kaneki out into the living room and she was out for a pretty good while, and it was time to go back up because I would be going to bed soon. I had to put food down to get her close to me, other wise she runs. I got her and she bit me and scratched her way out of my hands, until I dropped her.

So I got more food and it took me AND my mom to get her! She ended up getting her because she would run whenever she saw me. She didn’t offer to bite or scratch my mom, but once I had her again she bit me and tried scratching her way out again but I held her tighter.

Why is she doing this?? When shes in the cage she comes up to me when I open the top door and put my hand in, shes friendly then. But once shes out, its a nightmare!

she obviously doesn’t want to get back in…and bunnies don’t like being picked up. a trick is to cover her with a towel or small blanket. Bunnies wont run if their eyes are covered. This will slow her enough for you to pick her up properly. Hold their back towards your chest, hold one hand at the chest by the front feet and hold bum and back feet. If her back is in your chest she cant kick herself away.

Rookie is right, it’s perfectly normal for a bun to really hate being picked up. The towel trick sounds good, they get less terror-struck if their eyes are covered. And it is really important to secure her hind legs and butt against your body when you lift her, so she doesn’t kick out, a bunny can hurt it’s spine severely if it kicks out back.

You can wear gloves for starters, she’s only doing this because she’s terrified she’ll get eaten by a predator. It’s a deep instinct, not a conscious choice, and it doesn’t mean she doesn’t like you.
